agree watched many,they seem to almost always be the same, way over powered blue forces with totally untouchable aircraft and 99.9% PK aam..... getting the same 7 min of destroyed J15/29k shots...was kinda nice to see them miss...the reaction to that says a lot. The last time a US jet shot down an enemy aircraft was an FA 18 shooting down a SU17 that had no idea he was fired on, Syria, two side winders from point blank first missed. The F35 how many air to air kills does it have? Hell even the balloon that the USAF force fired on if you want to call it air to air took two missiles as one missed.....reality is a b!tch ...I have had to explain reality to so many people. Luckily were talking about a game so reality isnt of much use...the point you make is moot as in the game PL15 and R77 as well as R33, R37 are notched on a regular basis.

Introducing subs into these type of battles would be great to watch, insane to play I am sure. Real life carrier v carrier battles would be insane, imagine have helos searching for subs, missiles coming in, mad launching fighters all the while scanning for another group attacking from behind. Modern naval warfare is wild, so many variables.

It was good progress like you said. So you are on the right track, and I didn't think everything was going to go perfect this first time using the Sub's. I do find it very much entertaining because of the complexity and difficulty of doing that kind of Naval Battle. And I definitely think they should be involved from now on. Obviously I wouldn't expect you to do it all the time, but when you have enough people I think it be great to have a big Naval Battle using the Choppers and Sub's operated by human's and also Human Operator's on the ships as well. And I am sure that has to be the hardest work to try and get enough people to commit to something like that all at the same time especially when everyone lives in different parts of the world... Good work tho on this one! I appreciate it, and wasn't expecting everything to go perfect the first time.

Nice job. The ASW helos should be fair game. That would add realism and force the fighter jets to worry about defending their helos. You could place the subs further out to simulate a sonar buoy detection zone and then allow the helo pilots to determine when they have enough air cover to take off "safely". Hopefully the interference with the missile tracking can be resolved.

damn, 30 kt at the surface is some mad lad move. not just the wake from the vessel, but the cavitation should have been detected by the ships passive sonar so quickly. 30kt at a non cavitating depth with even a moderate surface duct could hide a nuclear sub. but an active would eat up subs so quickly if they knew there were subs.

Tne QE aint in dry dock and has travelled around the world more than the russian carrier which has been around for more than 2 decades longer, not to mention the russian carrier needs a Tug to accompany it all times. The POW (the other QE class) hasnt even been in dry dock for a year(only about 7 months total as of right now) and is due to be out later this month. You cannot say the problems are the same for both. The Russian carrier just spent 5 years in dry dock and has spent more than 10 years total in dry dock while the QE will only have a couple of 1 year refit's in dry dock and POW will have the same + the 8 or so months for the repairs its done (it will also of done a refit while it was in dry dock)

Hello, this is VOR. It was a fun and eventful video but I feel the need to clarify that neither the scoreboard nor ASW script do anything that would be able to break missile guidance. Even if they tried, the way the DCS environment works does not allow such things to happen, or at least it's not intended to. As long-time valued viewer can attest, things do break down in DCS now and then. Cap's version of the scoreboard has been unchanged since January. As for the blocked sonar messages, ED has changed how triggered text works a while ago. There are no short term workarounds, unfortunately.

It's fine if you keep the AA and ASW action separate. It's extremely hard to coordinate their action together in real life so they'll operate independently. As you mentioned, subs are loud and easy to detect at 30 kt. They would only go that fast to position themselves to attack but would slow down to less than 10kt for the actual attack run. The Mk46 torpedo has a search capability when in the water. It can perform a snake or circular search pattern to locate the sub before attacking.

Thanks, scoreboard has been the same since January. It has been used alongside meteors countless times without issues, not that it could do anything to them in the first place. It used to work just fine alongside other messages, too, until ED changed something a few versions back. This is just DCS being DCS, unfortunately.

I think that the Russian Carrier would keep their aircraft on the defense until the F35s decide to go to the offense. I also think that the Russians will launch more anti ship missiles than what was seen in the video. The Russian strategy heavily depends on large sized anti ship missiles disabling the carrier. Such cruise missiles are carried on large cruisers (idealy kirov) and cruise missile submarines which were both missing in the scenario. A kirov, although not as capable as the modern destroyers-frigates, carries 20 p700 granits which can be launched 625km (388nm) away from the enemy carrier, this means that the UK strike group would be under attack well before the scenario even begins.

The F-35, in extremis, can use flares, but notably (at least in the B and A models) NOT chaff. Those use a streaming decoy that is similar to surface warships' "Nixies." Run this again but without submarines Cap if you can, and place the 2 CSGs much closer to each other(150 nautical miles), so the UK Type 45s will have a chance to shot their anti-ship missiles. :D My theory about the lot of meteors missed is that the AI F-35Bs actually fired at the blue submarines and at the Russian helicopters. Maybe. You can see in the tacview the meteors looks like they heading towards the blue submarines. Very very interesting. But because they ran out of range it went for the last know location of the subs. One more thing is that the frigates would be the last line of defense for the Carrier(This is what I saw a lot of times, the best example is what happened at the Falklands war, when Argentina sank the HMS Sheffield). Basically the 3 Type 42 Destroyers was much more away in the front from the carriers and the 2 Type 22 Frigates was the last line of defense for it... They was positioned basically next to the 2 carriers. Again, I'm sure your other sub driver viewingtons shrieked plenty after last week, but allow me to stick my oar in the water, so to speak. Enemy subs vs. capital surface combatants (such as Ford or Nimitz class CVNs or the Red equivalents) would surely be their first-flight sub classes and their very best skippers - this means SSNs. ASW can rapidly become a headache, especially if you are not super familiar with that subclass of naval combat, and here are some more dreary details for your delectation. First, torpedo range - US Mark 48 ADCAP max range is 24 miles (not 12 as currently modeled) and Russian and Chinese torps would be equivalent. Second, detection from the surface - P3C Lockheed Orion or P8 Poseidon aircraft would usually be available for support of the task group, using another thing for you to model: sonobuoys. Sonobuoys, also used by the SH-60 Seahawk helos prior to actually dipping, are layed ahead of the fleet to get first contact on enemy subs. Third, figuring the thermocline, a layer of seawater where temperatures change where sonar performance can sometimes not penetrate. Good skippers will hide from your helicopters and surface ASW ships by using the Layer. For more fun, top tier Chinese attack boats will have short range anti-air capability to shoot down helicopters, so hovering near them (they can hear your rotor noise) might be a bit suicidal. I think that the ASW should be completely removed for now because its still very much incomplete. The biggest features missing are ships also doing ASW and different submarines having different acoustic signatures not just depending on their speed. They should be added to battles like these when the said features are implemented.

Thanks, the capability for different acoustic signatures is there already and I half expected Cap and the boys to make use of it. That chart shown in the videos is a sample chart and actually meant for the submarine operator to give a general idea how fast one can move in which circumstance. That's why slow speeds are green and fast ones are red. Big plans for the ASW script, but it's going to take a while.

As a fellow youtuber and scenario planner i sympathize with the ASW conflicting with other mods. Setting up huge scenarios only to watch the AI mess up just sucks. Imo you should ditch the ASW until it gets better modeled. That being said your channel and scenarios are the best on you tube.
