G4 144Hz is 7ms of persistence, G5 165Hz is 6ms of persistence. The lower the persistence, the best the motion can be (at max fps, meaning 144 and 165fps/Hz)

144 and 165 is extremely similar. Not worth upgrading for. The higher fps you have , the more you need to feel a big difference.

Admittedly I’m not the most “accurate” content watcher. But I tested the s90d alongside the g4 in my home. The s90 did have better color luminance overall. But it lacked so much in brightness for me. The g4 was plenty bright, while lacking slightly in color. I ultimately chose the g4 for my sun soaked room. The g4 I have changed to native color gamut, and turning the color adjustment to high. It actually creates super vibrant colors, probably not “perfect” but plenty enough to make it equal to what I saw on the s90d.

S90D looks slightly flatter compared to the G4 even the S95D sometimes looks flat and loses out on specular highlights
@pboissie6 күн бұрын
I concur since I have a G4 now and still have a first gen qdoled Samsung s95b. Glad to see S90D still doesn’t match the G4 in brightness 😂 G4 just is razor sharp too in resolution and processing, that you notice distant objects in landscapes are more discernible. As you mentioned the color advantage is overhyped with QD oled in a sense, and Samsung has always used oversaturated colors anyhow for their TVs. I hear the Sony qdoled looks more muted and therefore more accurate compared to Samsung, which makes the overall color advantage over LG more of a moot point. To compensate for color diff like you mentioned I turn up G4 color to 65 or 70, use native color gamut for SDR since HDR automatically uses it, but also bumping up color temp to warmest/highest setting.

And when I found one it took more than a month before it arrived. Fortunately for new buyers, this year they are going to include it again. Also the remote is a bit outdated, I thought I was gonna hate that magic remote but honestly it is fine now. I thought I was going to definitely buy the new remote when it becomes available but now I am not so sure if it's worth it. LG hasn't given the 4-layer OLED a name. But Panasonic did; they all it Tandem OLED. Similar to Apple Tandem OLED iPAD

@@iPods_ not just LG display. Samsung display make the tandem OLED for Apple and Samsung is Apple biggest OLED supplier a simple google search will show you that and the TV tandem OLED is completely different to the iPad one. There is no colour filter or colour converting layer on iPads tandem OLED rather it’s RBG OLED stacked behind each other and subpixels are RBG OLED material.

Looks like technology of the big 3 TV producers has maxed out for the next 2 or more years after an incredible explosion last year. I don't see much more picture quality that is gonna be worth the wow factor for years to come. That's why I upgraded to a G4 this year. It's a big wow over my 6 year old Samsung from 2018. I'm set for at least another 5 years.

I still cannot invest in these TVs as a long term investment. I want the OLED contrast as I’ve had many of the C series TVs but they always wind up with dead pixels and it drives me nuts having to be mindful of leaving a static screen constantly. I think I’m just going high end QLED until we get QDEL or MicroLED. I’m sticking with that for at least 5 years, hopefully OLED is no longer the best by then as I don’t want small risk of burn in. I want no risk of burn in for this kind of money.

Great video, congrats! My question his: why all these company when it come to make tv's in 48'' or 42 '', they don't put all there specs ? I know the G5 will have one in 48'' finally, but without the advantages of the bigger sizes... Come on LG !!! I would really appreciate your opinions on the best oled tv in the 48'' sizes and hopefully you will make some comparable videos on the different marks! Thanks!

Because they assume you’re sitting much closer and the extra brightness would be turned down anyway

Hell for me the C3 has been beyond bright enough.. So "Max" and "Ultimate" mean nothing to me. Yea I mean i little brighter could never hurt But the PQ of the C3 at 65-inch is just beyond great. Especially with what I ACTUALLY get for what I actually paid.. The bang for the buck is unmatched IMO. For gaming: PS5 Slim DISC Edition Offline story-driven single-player games Only. So 60fps is great for me. So im going to stay with the C3. Think im good for a few more years

@ might aswell go 240. I reckon they are using some input IC that monitor manufacturers were using a few years ago that can only do 165 and it’s not a panel issue. Since all new OLEd monitors are doing 240 now wouldn’t be surprised if they follow suit next year

G4 has a far better processor than the G3. The G3’s processor hardware is not able to get good color out of a MLA WOLED in game mode where most if not all software processing is disabled in order to minimize latency. Outside of game mode, the G3 uses software processing to get good color out of the MLA WOLED panel. The G3’s processor is also unable to mitigate the near black chrominance overshoot artifact that is inherent to WOLED and which MLA magnifies. The G3’s only mitigation for that artifact that I am aware of is to crush blacks. The G4’s processor mitigates that artifact in hardware processing by dithering which is far better than crushing blacks. The only things that I am aware of that the G3 can do that the G4 can’t do is ATSC 3.0 decoding (a patent owner for a key technology in ATSC 3.0 wants to be paid far more than other patent owners, so LG is refusing to license it) and native DTS decoding (the G4 passes DTS to the soundbar or receiver via eARC for decoding).

Heard many times in tv reviews that the samsung remote is better than LG. I have both TV’s and I think that the LG is more user friendly. Now that the input selection is changed from a dedicated button to long press in new LG remote, I hear it’s a downgrade. I agree but didn’t hear any complaints about this in samsung remote reviews which has had the input selection under long press for a while now. Just saying😅. But stilll waiting for the back light under the buttons for both manufacturers remotes. Seems that gonna have to wait a little longer…😢

There will always be some of that. I bought the Bravia 9 85" last June. I know 100% there could be a lot better Bravia 9 this year and the new Bravia 10 etc. But such is life when it comes to technology. They always improve. I am still excited to see how they improve. Because in 4-5 years when I upgrade again it will be a massive upgrade again. I mean I am loving my Bravia 9 because it's amazing how well it does not being an OLED in black levels and blooming control and gaming. I mean it can get super bright in HDR and with PC games in HDR when you can tweak the settings. Same thing deep blacks and contrast and smack in your face HDR. But yes, this year it will be even better. But that doesn't mean what we got is bad. If we constantly look for next year you will never have a TV.
