I have a SRS A2. I really enjoy it. I’m just getting started in long range so I don’t have much experience to pull from. The compactness of the rifle and barrel change system is what brought me to system. I went with a 22.5 proof barrel in mine, chambered in 308. I produced a .319 5 shot group 2 weeks ago at 100 yards Shooting 155 Lapua bullets, Lapua brass, with H4350 powder. I’ve personally never been able to do that. So it was quite exciting. Hopefully by April I will have a 6.5 PRC barrel for it. I hope Desert Tech gets your extraction issues solved. Even in 308 the cases don’t fling out very far, but I have actually like that because I reload. Don’t have to chase cases all over. Thanks for the video. Happy Holidays.

I own this exact rifle with the 22” factory 308 barrel and it’s been amazing accuracy wise so far. The bolt was pretty stiff to start but after 200 rounds and a lot of dry fire it’s smoothed up a lot. To me, the reduced overall length without sacrificing barrel length combined with the great balance makes it worth it. Great video. Would love to see an update if/when you hear back from Desert Tech about the 338 ejection because I was planning on buying one of those kits.

The ZCO optic has had recent test results show failure to maintain accuracy and precision. Search rokslide scope field evaluation and find the ZCO test. It displayed similar results to your groups on two seperate rifles. Also it is unlikely that the desert tech has two barrels with poor accuracy so it would be nice to see another scope atop it

These rifles can be picky about the ammo you feed them, I thought I was going to wear the .243 barrel out before I found a load it liked. When I did find a load it was a real performer, won a local 600 yd. bench rest match with it, 1/2 moa or a little better. Tried that load in another .243 and it hated it so they are a breed of their own. Had a custom .338LM barrel made at 30" and it's still shorter than most standard rifles, really likes the 285 gr. Hornaday ELD, shot a 12" group at a mile.

Great video thanks for making this. I have been considering one of their HTI rifles for awhile now. Lack of a place to shoot one has kept me from it though. I am an unlimited member at Clinton House but its hard to practice or get used to anything when mile day once a month is the only time I can even shoot my existing 338LM let alone a larger caliber. .

I have this same rifle. What I have done to reduce the hop, is add an Area 419 railchanger 2 along with the D-Bag from Coletac to add some weight to the forend. I have yet to shoot it with this, but it adds some good weight to the front and should help. I also have a .300 PRC conversion from Short Action Customs. I really like this rifle. It may not be for everyone, but my 6.5 Creedmoor shoots sub MOA with 143gr ELDX Hornady precision hunter

@@gw5436 I wouldn't expect a .308 with a brake to have much recoil. It's when you get to the magnum rounds that the rifle may start to hop.

I have the same rifle in 6.5 Creed and 300 Norma. It’s an awesome platform. I did get a custom 6mm GT barrel done up for it but couldn’t get it to eject no matter what I tried. Very similar to what you were seeing with the 338 cases. We eventually decided to rechamber it in 6 Creed and it works great. I wonder if you just have some weak ejectors on your magnum bolt. Anyway, thanks for the great content!
@sjohnson17765 ай бұрын
Great content as usual Ray. Thank you for that. Like you, I was a little disappointed in accuracy with the caveat being it was not fine tuned ammo in either caliber. I haven't shot factory ammo in so long I have no idea what to expect in 6.5C or any other. The ejection issues would have cost me accuracy points for sure because I'd have been so aggravated that it would have distracted me terribly between shots. Thanks for bringing us along!!!!!!

I have an SRS A2 with a 22" factory 6.5CM barrel. For some reason it didn't seem to like the ELDs which everyone else recommended on the forums. 140 SMKs are single hole at 100yds, even the cheapest AAC 6.5CM (luckily for me, because I don't reload (yet)). I easily can impact a target at 300 or 400 yards with any of my rifles but after that nothing in more less four months shooting in the long range just one time I hit a target at 800 yards and it was with my Ruger precision 6.5 PRC and a vortex strike eagle 5-36x56 with my DD delta 5 pro and a night force scope the NX8 never hit a target at that distance at least not yet, thank you so much for all your videos and the way sharing your knowledge with us

They had an earlier version of this manufacturer in Bisley for competitions as 3 rifles in .308 set up for the 200 yard McQueen issued rifle competition. Zeroed out of the box the day before. By the end of the first day all 3 were broken from firing .308 147 Ball FMJ. Between firing pins broken, extractor broken and bolt lug sheered off. Most likely defective metals. Never felt like they were any good.

While commercials and military propaganda claims the .338 LM to be precise. Most shooters seem to have problems making the .338 LM shoot. I remember reading about accuracy challenges on Finnish forums 10 years ago. Many reviewers have similar precision challenges as you. The ASR program found the Norma magnums to be more precise. The .338 LM just doesn´t seem to be an inherently precise caliber. Most people would be better off buying one of the .300 magnums. I still think most armies are best suited sticking with the .338 LM they already have, due to it being an off the shelf, issued cartridge and spending funds something else. For instance on night vision.
