I would welcome a video on updating the firmware in the TinySA Ultra! I have not performed any updates because I would rather have an old working version than end up with a "brick".
@slavisaasus21 күн бұрын
It is impossible to make it "a brick" because of DFU mode of STM32 microcontroller inside.

Multi-band is automatically set up by the harmonics feature (MEASURE->HARMONIC) if you enter a span other than 0=FULL. It is useful for monitoring narrow bands over a large part of the spectrum and can be considerably faster than a full scan.

If it only goes to 800Mhz, that stuff at the far right isn't wifi - I think it's a new cellular band they opened up below 800Mhz after they relocated all TV stations to on or below CH 36 (below 608MHz) in July 2020. Cellular is just gobbling up the entire spectrum slowly. The lowest wifi band in common usage is 2.4Ghz, you can get 900MHz wifi gear, but it's not consumer level stuff.

I would really appreciate a firmware update video. My ultra is way out of date because of the convoluted mess that is tinysa ultra fw updates. They wanted me to disable windows security features that require a system restore to get back along with installing unsigned drivers. If you've got a less horrible way than I'd love to see it.

Yes, I'd like to see a video on firmware updating of the TinySA, and Ultra, and also one on the NanoVNA with DiSlord's firmware updates. Those "tiny differences" in instructions drive me nutz. I'm a good hardware tech, but I learned much of it just before the advent of the PC, so I never even took a class in BASIC. I spent so much time on hardware stuff that I didn't even have spare time to learn to type, let alone learn software, firmware development. These days the firmware downloads can get weird, especially with information from different sources providing different instructions, and different versions of the products, and the information being undated so I can't even figure out which is older and which is newer, lack of date-time chronology being one of my pet peeves with web info and documentation. I find that while neither the TinySA nor the NanoVNA is a "full featured device," still they both do 90% to 95% of what might be needed, particularly for a hobbyist, for less than 1% of the price of the full-blown instrument. My Anritsu Spectrum Master sold for over $40K new, and I just use my TinySA for almost everything these days. I doubt I'll use the Anritsu again unless someone wants me to tune up a set of repeater cans and I need the lowest possible noise floor.

Be careful who you buy it from. There is a lot of hacks and clones out there being sold with very crappy parts and don’t perform nearly as good as the real McCoy.

The drones use frequency hopping so it is extremely difficult to detect the signal since the transmitted frequency will stay on a single hop only for milliseconds.
