Can anyone tell me what a "preview promo" is? She says at 7:20 that she used a "preview promo" to get emails for her email list before she published book one but I can't figure out (and Google is no help) what in the world a preview promo is. THX :)

Hi, fellow vegan! Group list-building promotions aim to get readers who enjoy our sort of books on our newsletter mailing lists by offering them something they might like. Often, it's an ebook short story, a novelette, or a novella. Some promos allow authors to offer book previews as the reader welcome gift - a mini-ebook with the beginning chapters of a soon-to-be-published story. So, that's a preview promo. Two things need to be in place before an author can join a listbuilding promo - a way to collect and store the readers' email addresses (an account set up with a mailing list provider like Mailerlite or MailChimp) and a way to deliver the ebook containing the preview chapters to readers once they signed up (easiest is to use a service like BookFunnel, StoryOrigin, or Prolific Works formerly Instafreebie).
