Near the end, when Mary Had a Little Lamb was discussed, I realize why I appreciate Chase’s work. I’m running across a lot of concepts which underpin acceptance and commitment therapy, which has been so helpful to me. Thank you for your dedication to the science of behavior, which you then distill and share in an accessible way.

I am so impressed with your interview. I have seen Chase Hughes on different podcasts before and they have never asked some of the questions you asked. Pretty much answered my question about how he translated not getting a date into a Naval career. I have subscribed to your channel now. I know I have read at least one of your books. Have it upstairs or I would tell you which one. I also am a member of CH social app. I got interested in body language about a year ago and now keep reading about it and watching people. It’s pretty fascinating and has definitely made me more understanding of some people’s actions. I think it makes you have more empathy. Thanks for a great interview.

This part tho -> @48:30 ish “The voice is a little kid trying to help you” Seeing the imposter syndrome voice as your inner little kid trying to protect itself from something that it’s scared will hurt it was incredibly powerful because it generated such empathy for that cause I no longer consider it an enemy.

Just saying 'hi.' I don't want to watch without introducing myself. I unfortunately had imposter syndrome the entire time I taught, but it left as soon as I stopped teaching. Go figure. I have no idea if it would come back if I went into teaching again, or stay gone. In any event, I don't plan on finding out. How well my memory's working, or not working, will also trigger imposter syndrome in me. Maybe anxiety inhibits recall? Anyway... Best! :)

@@rdreeke One of your challenges in interviewing Chase Hughes is that he isn't allowed to answer so many of your questions. You kind of already have to know the answers --that you're not supposed to have!--in order to know which questions to avoid. :) But I realized a dichotomy, personally: if you owe money; it's OK to talk about what happened. If someone else owes you money; it's not! :) Best! :)

Love this video! I've always said where people went wrong as a species was learning language. Language essentially takes over your thoughts and drowns out your gut feelings. If you think about it there is never a time when your brain is not speaking to you. That voice can not be muted like he eludes to. Granted it's essential for communicating more efficiently but I think it hinders us instinctually.

Robin, this is my second video of yours. My first was Mark Bowden. I love how you interview. I really connected with something you said to Chase here. You stopped him and said you're basically more into experiences/lessons than facts, if I rephrased that correctly. Brilliant! It's interesting that Chase speaks about focus. I disassociate for seconds so many times a day, I can walk into my next room, after having a thought, and stand in that other room and wonder to myself why I went in there. And it only takes seconds to walk there. On The Behavior Panel, on one episode, Chase is talking about something, and in a very calm, smooth tone that isn't intimidating at all, he says, "Look at me. Look at me". And I had lost focus. And when he stated this, I looked right up at him. How was he able to gain my focus, and compliance to focus on him, without saying it in a seemingly authoritative tone? I'd be quite curious about your answer or your take on that type of situation.

23:19 seems like he's touching around with the concepts or Rupert Sheldrakes Morphic Resonance theory as well as Carlos Castaneda's explanation of the way of the Nagual and the art of "seeing," as far as that part of us that knows they can learn things that are true beyond language. I have been interested in getting more familiar and comfortable in this type of ultra-experienced "flow zone." Another thing that is weird to me with language is that the concept of polarity as a severely exaggerated form of duality does not seem to be able to exist without the presence of language. That is something else I have recently heen fascinated with and am experimenting around with. I like to imagine all the truth that must be waiting to be discovered right in front of (all of) our eyes, that none of us are still able to see? Although we (as a population right now) seem to be self-balancing ourselves back into a harmonic equilibrium with nature, but still our miseducations must prevent us from seeing so much.. Wow, the other side of the power of words, I hadnt brought up, but apparently, must also be addressed regarding their Beautiful power was expressed so elegantly in that short but powerfully true perceptive suggesstion to "see suffering first," for example.

On the imposter syndrome conversation, it got me looking at different ways to perceive that voice. And that alone is interesting. It is just a thing that exists in the mind at the moment and another part of the mind is creating a meaning out of it. So what can it mean to me? It's obviously fear based and that can lead one to not take action, paralyzed by fear. It can be a good business partner making sure you keep looking for helpful information for yourself and those around you. Keeps you on your toes so you don't feel too comfortable solidifying in how your making sense of reality OR in other words how present you are. Are generalizing and assuming whats in front of you or are you looking at it for what it is, you know? Because that imposter syndrome type of thoughts can help wake you up to like are you asleep and assuming things that are not actually accurate or are you observing clearly? He calls it fiction in his mind but I wonder how much he has chosen to try and befriend it or transform it? There could be so many options now that I think about it.

Chase Hughes mentions that he had a mentor who advised him to tear up his resume and start his own business. Chase followed that advice, worked hard, delayed gratification, and went on to write a number 1 best seller book. What if you don't have a mentor and feel like you don't know where to start? Where do you begin?
