That is NOT the David we know from the movies. David in this video is David 8 while David from Prometheus and Covenant is the very first David robot. David 8 is based on the original David.

All robots are psychopaths. The biggest hallmark of a psychopath is lack of emotions, which robots share but to a greater extent since they have none.

Yep, that's the point. He can perform tasks that people might find "unethical". A huge foreshadowing red flag right there. Also notice that it's only "unnecessary" violence that makes him sad, not violence in general.
