I loved the wall walks. People can do handstand push ups or walks, weightlift above their limits, but complain about this movement. If you suck at it, you need to train it. I have so many weaknesses. So what, this means, I can improve on a daily base. Leave your ego at the door. Let's get fit together. Respect your limits. Have fun together. Cheers

I don’t attend a CrossFit gym, but have started doing variations of the workouts you show. Either in the gym (when it’s open obviously, I’m not breaking in) or at home. Have done since May 20Covid. I’ve dropped 2.5 stone, got stronger and clearly fitter (miles fitter). Thank you, from a one time “lifter”.

I know a lot of crossfitters would have preferred a barbell movement in 21.1, but wall walks were a good addition. If people can't do them, then guess what, they should learn. Isn't that the whole point of crossfit - constantly varied training? It sucks that people got injured, but hey, people get injured attempting all kinds of exercises that they've never done before - there are hundreds, if not thousands of gym fail videos to prove that point. Anyway, if someone's ego got in the way and they tried to do 21.1 RXed, but they never did wall walks before, and it resulted in an injury, they really have nobody to blame but themselves. #ToughLove #RealTalk #NotEveryoneCanRX

Answering your question: I think people should leave their ego aside. If you can't perform those wall walks, please scale... you think you're better than wall walks? Then welcome to injury land. If you haven't practice them, don't do them in competition. It's easy. What happened to those people is that their ego stood in the way. Thank you for your videos!
@nicholas77933 жыл бұрын
Yea, I agree. I was scared my shoulder was gonna pop out. Thank God it didn't lol. I also thought the movement standards made it too complicated. Really had to focus on not moving that hand off the line too soon or you get screwed with a no rep.
@dawnfiegen32493 жыл бұрын
Ah, come on Craig. It's a variation of the handstand walk, essentially. People get injured when: they fail to assess accurately their own capacity, don't pace/rest appropriately, or refuse to do the scale version due to pride. It an ass-kicker for sure but what do you expect this is a movement you will see in CrossFit classes. "Putting the community at risk?" Practically all CrossFit can cause injury when done "for volume and time" (at least that what the critics have been saying for years) All that aside, you and Jas are awesome and I always LOVE your content.

I COMPLETELY agree about wall walks. I’ve been using them as gymnastics accessory work for years, and they are quite beneficial, but it is unwise to program them in a MetCon for the general population, especially when people are falling within a few feet of each other.

definitely an accessory. Not for time. But one of the best for shoulder strength and midline strength to improve HSPU. Great for warm up and mobility aswell.

Totally get where you're coming from regarding the wall walks. However, you'll probably see the same amount of fails and injuries from all the other skill-based movements such as cleans, snatches, and kipping movements. I think it comes down to staying in your lane and only doing a workout if your body can handle it. It should be the responsibility of the coaches and athletes to determine when a scale is needed. In my opinion, because few of us train wall walks regularly the majority of us shouldn't be doing that many wall walks in a workout - most of us RX'd when we really should've scaled

Agree a little dangerous for the open. I mean, for those of us with good handstands, core and gymnastics backgrounds, it's a cool test. But I have a feeling it was a little sketchy feeling for some of the coaches scoring their athletes who just barely have handstands... Then again, I also am not a fan of handstand pushups, and that's a very standard movement.

I liked 21.1, I think its like any other workout for time... athlete needs to be careful and not give up form for speed. This was the first open workout that I've done (I've RX'd the past 5 -6 years) that I haven't been completely wrecked for the days following.
@amandalobb18503 жыл бұрын
I liked the wall walks. They are a great accessory for handstand walks and also a good sub for handstand walks for those of us who haven’t got the space to do them. However, it’s not something many athletes are used to, and so many would have done them for the first time in that workout which does make them a bit dangerous. I hope to see them become more of a CrossFit move.

Wall walks caught people off guard which means it’s a great movement for the Open but I agree maybe lower volume. I mean they are a scaled option for handstand push-up and should be in your bag.
