“What’s draining your energy? We all have habits that drain our energy. Some of them we are aware of and some of them we participate in unconsciously.
Here are 21 things that could be draining your energy. Pick three to work on. And remember, you can see the whole list at MatthewKelly.com. We publish the transcripts to all my KZbin videos on my blog.
1. Negativity.
2. Bad posture.
3. Not drinking enough water.
4. Lack of direction and priorities.
5. Forgetting to breathe deeply.
6. Sugar, Caffeine, and Alcohol.
7. Not taking a break.
8. Checking email first thing in the morning.
9. Taking things personally that are not personal.
10. Social media.
11. The news.
12. Worrying about things you cannot influence.
13. Sleeping too much.
14. Poor diet choices.
15. Complaining.

22. Skipping breakfast.
23. Never taking a real vacation.
24. Alcohol before bed.
25. Checking email before bed.
26. Your attitude.
27. Clutter and disorganization.
28. Too much food or not enough food.
29. Stress.
30. Lack of self-esteem.
31. Saying yes to things you know you should say no to.
32. Half finishing tasks.
33. Gossiping.
34. Toxic people and unhealthy relationships
35. Trying to please others constantly.
36. Ruminating on the past.
37. Not moving enough.
38. Resentment.
39. Worrying about what people think about you.
40. Watching TV that drains you emotionally and beats you up psychologically.
41. Planning too far into the future.
Okay, that was 41, not 21, I got carried away. But here’s the thing. Everyday there are an unlimited number of people and activities out to steal your energy if you let them. Don’t let them.
Have a great day… and remember, don’t just be yourself, be the-best-version-of-yourself!”

Wow, that's quite a list. I was expecting him to stop at 21. It's hard to choose just a couple to work on, but what struck me the most was not drinking enough water, posture, negativity, and checking the emails before bed, or for that matter, almost anything on the computer before bed, often interferes with sleep.

"Planning too far into the future" you're right on this one it caused me 10 yearsof inaction and worries. Lost big amount of times on worrying, now I'm fixing it hope I'll make it.

Absolutely right about 41.... If you look too far ahead, it stifles you, it can make you feel limited to what you can change, and if one thing goes wrong (nothing ever goes wrong, right?) it pretty ruins everything. Even when making a budget. I've found that 2 months is probably as far as you can go in planning ahead. And there are times that 2 months may be too far ahead.

I want to say Thank You! I finally sat down with 'Life is Messy' last night (2.21.22) and couldn't stop reading. Not sure how it'll help me quite yet, since my dire mess is eyelash deep. But similar to Sr Miriams' talks and Fr Mikes' homilies, your new book is laced with nuggets of gold! May God's peace and love be with you and your family forever.

Thank you for getting to the point without half an hour of waffling as most presenters tend to do. I always lose interest and never hear the advice I set out to listen to!

I use fast forward on the time line across the screen. Click anywhere on it and zoom to that point/ As soon as I spot a waffle such as "so why are you here"/ "let me tell you a bit about myself" any long lead in etc...I know to skip at least two minutes..and if its still a waffle then jump at least 30/40 seconds at a time until you hear what you came for,..you can jump back a bit if you missed a bit..(if you can still be bothered by then).

But when done, will save you WAYYY more time than the time you took to change them, and will save even moreso than the time bad habits will take and waste! Change takes time, but saves you SOOO much in the end! It's worth it, and it'll only be worth it's most if you start change RIGHT NOW! :D God bless and have a great day!

Wooahh🤣 I need to write all this down! These are good ones! Thank-you Matthew. I personally think that a huge game changer is not checking social media in the morning and waiting till later in the day . Also the wine at night is something I'm desperately trying to kick. I'm a busy mom of a large family and oh boy do I love my wine!

Hi Gwen, I just happened to notice this and I too LOVE my wine and realize it had gotten to the point where it wasn’t always serving me well. I would highly encourage you to check out Sober Sis on social media. I just went through her 21 day reset and it was amazing. It’s not a “quit drinking” program so much as a “reset” and an opportunity to really look at my relationship with alcohol (wine 😉). Also it’s faith based which is awesome. Wishing you all the best!

@@meredithweaver4084 thankyou for your kindness,Meredith. 💖 It's funny because the the very next day I received a big grace and I knew that someone was praying for me! I even did a KZbin video about it the same day to be an encouragement to others. I had made a video on it about a month ago and and I failed. But I'm determined this time! Then wearing the Miraculous Medal for about a month now and I'm sure Our Lady is helping me out😉 I'll check out the site you sent me

Thank you Matthew for your encompassing list of ways to love yourself! Without loving and taking care of oneself, we can’t be available to live and help others, which is what God commanded us to do. “Love your neighbor as yourself. “ Thank you for this encouraging turn towards health through practical, Godly eyes. Our carnal world would have it otherwise. We have choice in our lives and the ability to react healthily to things out of our control. Thanks for helping us see the truth! God bless you!
