Two years ago I had cancer on my nose. The doctor did a procedure called Mohs. My cancer was quite deep, and I looked pretty rough for a couple of weeks. My doctor told me to keep Vaseline on it, until it was healed. It speed up the healing process, and lessened the scarring. You can not tell where the surgery was. So, for those who say it’s not good for the human body, I disagree. It certainly did wonders on my nose! I would recommend you use it on your cuts and abrasions. Unless you like scars.

Here’s how each skin type works with Vaseline: *Oily skin* : proceed with caution. It’s easy to overdo it with oily skin and Vaseline, locking in sebum and creating pimples galore. Try to stick to the body instead of the face, and focus on very dry parts (like the feet). *Dry skin* : Vaseline was practically made for dry skin - its protective properties mixed with the way it locks in moisture can relieve discomfort from dry skin. *Sensitive skin* : since Vaseline is unscented, hypoallergenic, and free from artificial coloring, it shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin. However, you can always try a patch test. If petroleum products bother you, try an alternative moisturizer below. Be sure to keep it away from the face!

Very useful tip: before putting on your socks and walking shoes, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or vaseline underneath your feet esp. the friction prone areas. This will prevent callouses and roughening/ hardening of skin if you are into regular long walks everyday. Apply them on feet to prevent shoe bites. I found this very very useful.

According to Dr. Denno, Petroleum jelly can create the illusion of moisturized, hydrated skin, all the while suffocating your pores. It’s water-repellent and not water-soluble, meaning it merely seals the barrier so that moisture does not leave the skin. So while you might feel the instant gratification of a softened surface, you’re actually drying out your pores by keeping out air and moisture. What’s more, the thick texture makes it difficult to cleanse from the skin, so never slather Vaseline on an unwashed face if you want to avoid breakouts. “It essentially seals in the dirt,” he said.

Don't think you have to forfeit the soothing feeling of Vaseline if you decide to eschew petroleum jelly, though. If you're looking for a dewy moisturizer, just opt for more natural alternatives and check ingredients. Products containing beeswax, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter and cocoa butter seal in moisture and don't come with some of the risks of petroleum jelly. "Remember that some of these products are absorbed into the skin, so it's nice to use something that you wouldn't mind putting into your body," Dr. Dattner says.

Place a sturdy rubber band around the closed fingers. Place wax paper under the glove on a cookie sheet & bake it for 10-15 mins. The glove will no longer be stiff. Wipe off the excess or leave it sit over nught then wipe it off with a paper towel. This can be done with any leather product.

I've heard that after you put on your skin routine, you should put vaseline on. It blocks dirt, bacteria and environmental damage from getting into your skin because it has a protective barrier for the skin so bad stuff doesn't get in. Does anyone know if this is actually true?

Our remote control stopped working. I took it apart and dabbed a bit of Petroleum jelly on the conductor plates beneith each button. Put it back together and extended it's life a few more years!

I always use petroleum jelly as a lip balm. Actual lip balms like carmex always seem to make my lips worse

My dad uses it to lubricate the rollers on the garage doors......been doing it for 20 years. Once a year he adds it with a popsicle stick and it works great in summer and winter and it's cheaper than store bought greases.

is use petroleum before i go to sleep if i stay up late to make them look more awake in the morning. they make my undereye bags firmer and my dark circles brighter. i put it on my eyelashes too and i promise you they will grow longer overnight, like the same night i used it, the next day they were longer. they didn't relly help me with thickness tho, if you want thickness you could use shea butter or castor oil.

I use it in the summer time for hay fever .For itchy eyes apply a small amount inside eyes lids and close to the nose bridge. For itchy nose and sneezing apply a small amount inside your nose it works better than the hay fever tablets for me as it traps the pollen before it makes contact with your sensitive skin

I've always used and appreciated Petroleum Jelly. The newer uses, newer to me, are not appealing and I can't see me going in these newer directions. I will not stop using as I now do but will continue to use as I'm familiar with.
