I have a FS110 bike handle with shoulder harness. I love it. Use it with a blade some too. When I got it I also got a large spool of orange cord. It's 5 plus years old and the cord it a bit brittle. The local Stihl dealer tells me to soak it in water to replace the moisture in it where it's biodegradable. And when your eyelets get groves from the cord. Price a new complete head. Here is Canada a new complete head is the price of two eyelets. FYI :-)

I have nothing against Stihl but I’ve somehow become an echo man as I’ve grown my power equipment collection of the past couple years. I’ve been happy even with their chainsaws. If it holds up it’s the best for the money in my eyes.

I have friends always asking me about what mower, trimmer, blower etc. they should buy and I tell them to buy what a commercial guy uses because they are the ones using and abusing the equipment everyday. They then tell me that they went to one of the big box stores and bought a bent shaft trimmer for 129.00 and want me to fix it 6 months later, cause it's junk. People, buy what a professional uses, no matter what you're doing, be it painting, lawn care, chainsaws, etc. They will last a typical homeowner their entire life, save you money and do a better job with less headaches.

This being an older video, I've been thinking about buying a stihl 91 and use a blade for cutting in my pastures. Back in 2014 I started off using a Cub cadet trimmer on tall weeds in my Florida pasture. Well after it burnt my arm, I went to the stihl dealer ended up buying the FS 130r. It did fantastic work! Still have it and I use Shakespeare line and only place I could buy it was at Lowe's. I also bought an extra spool to keep me cutting. Now I wish I would have bought the extra attachment for the blade. I went to a dealer here in Missouri but they can't seem to find the kit for my model. Still looking

If you want something you don't have to constantly fix or replace like most of the box store ones and one that will last 10-20 years it's absolutely worth buying one if you have a good size yard and have a lot of trimming. I'm a regular homeowner with a 3/4 acre property.. I have a lot of fence line, garden beds and hedges... When I went to purchase a kombi unit, I chose the pro series KM91R over the homeowner model KM56RC-E... Overkill? Perhaps, but I think I use it enough to justify the extra $150 for the 91. I definitely don't need the 111 or the 131. I bought the string trimmer, edger and hedge trimmer attachments.. I've owned the unit for about a month.. I love it so far. I'm actually surprised at the fuel efficiency! I'm about done with it for the season as the New England snow is coming soon.. Time to store it and look forward to next year!! I still have my 15 year old FS45 string trimmer which I'll continue to use on occasion.. I can't get myself to get rid of it!! LOL!!

That 24 oz fuel tank would be nice. I have a Stihl FS 70 R trimmer that only has a 11.5 oz fuel tank and I've run through a full tank several times when trimming around my place. Other than that, it's great. If this thing ever dies, which I doubt it will, I'll make the jump up to the 91 R.

I have an Echo SRM-225 and I think this is my 5th season with it. Watching you trim it looks about the same as mine the way is cuts and it has the head that you just slip the line through and turn it to to put new line on, i don't remember what it's called but it's a nice feature. it's a little heavy for me, especially as I'm getting older, (73), but I take a break when I need to.. I use it to trim around the house and trim around at the church I attend, about 5 acres, and it's been great. Love your videos, I'm also in Western PA, NW that is and love to fish and hunt although it gets harder as I age. :)

I have the KM 131 and love it especially the way it sounds. Just did my first valve adjustment easy as pie. For super tall grass or thicker weeds its probably nice to have the power of the 131 but im sure the 91 is very good. Ive ran my 131 "mostly" full throttle all day before only stopping for gas. I grease the trimmer head about every 30 hours or whatever according to to the manual.

The professional series equipment is the way to go. Nothing against Stihl but I use Husqvarna equipment. This includes my chainsaws as well. I do own one Stihl chainsaw and I am very pleased with it. Your trail look awesome. I know you planted grass to help with the erosion but what about the ruts you will get from operating your tractor and Polaris? I know you have a box blade and will repair it but wouldn't it rip up the grass? I am not troubleshooting you, please help me understand this. This may be something that I want to do. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can share.

@@nikosgrigorakos well i use both. The Husqvarna xtorq engine is definitely superior to the stihl engines. This isnt a biased opinion as i use Stihl hedge trimmers and grass strimmers, my similar tools which use the husqvarna xtorq engines are more reliable in my opinion as all my Stihl tools have had there faults whereas none yet with husqvarna. So as an unbiased but experienced user, Stihls great when working but 6 different machines and only one hasnt been back in the shop, 4 husqvarna machine's none of which has dropped a beat( so far lol)

For years I used the power tools from the big box stores. Every two or so years I would have to replace the equipment because something broke and the part plus shipping was almost the cost of the powerhead or saw. I finally bit the bullet, reached deep into my wallet and bought the Stihl Kombi system and two chainsaws. After three years I came to realize Stihl isn't really more expensive because it keeps working without breaking. But the really big one, the chainsaws start in cold weather. It was 19 degrees out last January when I had to cut up fallen trees from an ice storm.

Nice trail Mike.... Your a certainly blessed with such a beautiful property. I have the Kombi version of this weedeater and primary use it for the pole saw, considering buying a light brush blade setup for it as well. The Stihl looks like a little beast and thank you for sharing
@davethemagnificent25765 жыл бұрын
I just bought my 91r mainly to run a saw blade head but also to use as a trimmer. It is a beast and will really turn a blade. It is a beast and will tear some high gas apart. My opinion is about like yours. For thin grass and around the house, especially thin underpinning it's just to much. My dislikes are : you can't feather the throttle because it chokes it down. Really can't run it half throttle, it's eighter all or nothing. Other then that I love mine. Especially the way it sounds, the kill switch and the automatic choke.

Stihl also sell a harnas that you can clip your trimmer on. That way the weight of the trimmer is on both your shoulders. This drastically improves the weight distribution on your body. Specifically your back. Looking at you using the trimmer you are decidedly hunched forward when using the trimmer. This creates a sizable load on your lower back. Using this harnas, or even the shoulderstrap would reduce that dramatically. We use even heavier stihl trimmer for work and always use that harnes. I can use it all day, because the weight is on my shoulders through that harness and all I have to do is direct it. Please rethink the use of a harness or shoulder strap, but definitly readjust your handle to correct your body attitude while using the trimmer and make sure you allways walk with your back straight and upright. It may prevent you from develloping a (muscle) backpain or even worse a hernia.

@joshuaglenn17103 жыл бұрын
It’s a 4 mix engine. it pulls air/fuel from the carburetor through the crankcase then into the cylinder. It operates on a 4 cycle process but because the air/fuel is drawn into the engine through the crankcase it doesn’t have a conventional oil filled sump, because of this you still need to mix oil into the gas so the oil can fallout of the fuel as the engine runs. Combining two stroke and 4 stroke technology it allows for lower maintenance and emissions.

Any recommendations? I even went and bought the new better string .90 that you showed on one of your videos, same outcome Great vids and thanks
@Halscamp6 жыл бұрын
Wire Man I was having the same problem and after many years of taking the head off and freeing up the line again I came to a conclusion this past summer that it only does it when I am actually hitting a fence, a whole bunch of post or something of that nature. I think the line is pulled taught when it wraps itself around these types of things and pulls it too tight in the head and jams up. I can go for hours if I am not hitting against these things.

The fs94r has the 2 stroke engine. The 91r has the 4 mix engine. Totally different. The 4 mix doesnt like inbetween its either full throttle of idle. The 2 stroke is better for cutting around delicate obstacles. 4 mix has more torque better for brush cutting.
