Highlights of Arsenal v Bristol City, Tranmere Rovers v Chester and Ipswich Town v Tottenham Hotspur.

There are some real Arsenal names of my childhood here - Storey, Simpson, Armstrong, Rice, Nelson, Radford, Rimmer. And then in the Spurs v Ipswich game two more! - Willie Young and Brian Talbot. Ah those were the days. Happy memories. Thanks for posting this.

Was at Highbury for that game. Our first game in the old 1st Devision. Cracking goal from Paul Cheesley but so sad he got an injury in the next game against Stoke that finished his career. He was a very promising young goal scorer and I’m sure he would have gone on to greater things.

Quality finish from the Tranmere lad - was under pressure from the Chester player, but spotted the keeper was off his line and pulled off a textbook lob.

Faarkin hell Arsenal. That was very ordinary. I’ve said it before but these old school player and managers are so honest and straight talking. It’s so refreshing to hear.

Poor old Paul Cheesley looking forward to the game with Stoke that would see him leave the field with a career-ending injury at the age of 23.

I actually looked him up as you could see in this game he could jump like a salmon and head the ball like a rocket, so I wondered why I'd not heard more about him. Apparently he went up for a cross with Peter Shilton, beat him but headed over and then landed awkwardly.

I'm an Arsenal fan Our game was aweful. I wasn't a fan when this game was played, I was only 5 but still. Goalkeeper before gloves were worn. It wasn't until the Chester game I noticed it

Spurs start to the season a harbinger of things to come and in May they were relegated to the 2nd Division finishing bottom of the league.

A very underrated manager despite his successes if that can be said of him. Got to love Ipswich a team that punched way above its weight for years and produced so many good players. Bristol City in the First Division, managed to stay there until I think 1980. Oh for those days when so many teams were competitive and when the FA Cup 3rd Round was perhaps one of the most exciting days of the season.

Went to the next home game with my dad! 0-0 draw with Man city... But that season ,saw us beat spurts& Malcolm's Garrick against the Geordies..!!!!!

How ironic that the Ipswich free kick deflected equaliser would be offside now because the touch off the Spurs player wasn't intentional! Such a load of bullsh@t that officials have to deal with nowadays. Not many defenders intentional pass to attackers!

I remember a Liverpool v Middlesbrough match a few years ago, and Steve McLaren bitterly complained about a Liverpool goal because, while he fully admitted the last touch had come off a Middlesbrough player and he had indeed intended it, the officials shouldn't have been able to tell and should have disallowed it for being offside.
