Good video, do you know the velocity for your pet load? I don’t seem to get anything close to book speeds.

To tell the truth, I don’t know the speeds I’m getting. Never had them over a chronograph. I’m of the opinion accuracy is more important than speed. Once you start shooting out of different rifles in different conditions, results will vary; really, every rifle is different, which makes book speeds an “indication only”. People get far too obsessed with bullet speed in my opinion; I remember when I did competitive clay target shooting, the obsession with speed got to ridiculous levels to the point where people lost sight of the original goal: point the gun in the right hole, and you’ll hit your target, and 50 feet per second won’t make any difference. A chronograph can put another layer of doubt in someone’s head, which is the complete opposite of what it is supposed to do. I just reckon it’s just finding a load that the rifle likes, and one that the shooter can shoot and be confident in. I don’t know how fast my loads are going, but I do know they’re fairly sharp, they’re plenty accurate and they seem to hit hard. I’ve tried to ask a couple of the things I’ve shot with them, but they were in no fit state to answer. Cheers Mate and thanks for the support…

I agree, I normally don't worry about velocity over accuracy either, however, I purchased a 22-250 specifically to utilise its renowned speed and thus flat shooting trajectory. Still, it's going a lot faster than my 223 accuracy load, which is also slower than ADI book speed by 350fps.

I've always stuck with IMR powder, in a 22-250, but nothing's wrong whatsoever with this powder either. I've shot both Sierra as well as Hornady V max bullets in my 22-250's (favorite caliber, owned 4). and the Sierra 1365 he's using is my favorite 22 caliber bullet, hands down no questions asked. Max loads with IMR powder, I'm getting 3500+ FPS. Curious to know if having issues with the Winchester primers. I've reloaded a long time and the Winchester primers were the silver color and they were as reliable as you could ask for, but when they changed over to the gold color finish in this package, I began having misfires in every rifle I owned. Perhaps I got a bad batch. I switched to a different brand and never had a problem since.

@@SilverBullet22250 no real primer issues (apart from the fact you can’t get them). I’m still mucking around with loads for the Weatherby Mark V, and I’m seeing some very promising results indeed. And that will all be revealed in a video coming very soon.

Couldn’t tell you at this stage. The rifle (Weatherby) has done comparatively little work, so I don’t know. The 22-250 does have the reputation as a barrel burner, but that would be an issue way down the track after a good volume of rounds have been fired I would imagine. Different rifles would have different barrel life, and that would be effected by a number of variable issues. No issues here thus far for either rifle. Cheers.
