When I was 12 in a pet shop, a darn monkey in a cage grabbed my hand and bit the hell out of my finger. I have had it in for monkeys ever since. This video cured at least some of my monkey PTSD.

22-250 with a Vmax is popular in Canada for things like coyotes, because it kills ‘em but only leaves one hole, so the fur is better. But for sure hyper fast with light projectiles have advantages and limitations

I used to shoot the lightest bullet I could find in 22-250 which was usually a 45-50 grain bullet. They were fast, but lost velocity like crazy due to a somewhat mediocre ballistic coefficient. I have since switched to 69 grain Sierra Tipped Match Kings. Velocity is a bit lower at 3200 fps, but they are an amazing bullet that retains velocity much farther than the lighter bullets.

I’m with you on that, I use .243 for just about everything, hogs, coyotes.. I have a couple and also a few 6.5 CM’s but the .243 is really an under rated cartridge. Extremely capable round. The 6.5 with a 90 Gn ballistic tip is devastating also but more expensive to shoot in volume.

Love my Sako 22.250 for Australian conditions. I use the old Nosler 55gn solid base, of which I have heaps left. They are brilliant on goats, wild dogs and smaller pigs and devastating on roos when you have a permit. Still accurate enough to head shoot rabbits if you want a feed. Loving the videos mate.

I had a Winchester model 70 that was my first 22-250 I loved it! And then I got a Savage heavy barrel 22 250 with a Simmons scope Harris bipod and I could hit quarters with that thing at 200 yards five shot groups consistently I hit coyotes up to 400 yards with that 22 250 standing up without even using a bipod and I like those I use 55 grain ballistic tips I love them the Hornady ballistic tips they were so accurate I really miss that gun! Out here in Texas we have a lot of plains and it's easy to get them shots up to 400 yards I never shot anything further than that love that 22 -250 is such an accurate cartridge! Not shooting too, I don't know if you've ever tried the bull barrel but man that thing was much more sweet shooting than the model 70 Winchester!

Another BANGER of a video! I wish I could come over there and hunt those things with an AR-15. I imagine you can't ("legally") own those there, but an Armalite Rifle would be perfect for quick follow up shots at distance. I only shoot semi-auto powderburners, but I do admire your Tikka. Classy gun for a classy dude. Cheers, Matt.
@davidkelly37793 жыл бұрын
One must ask, does the AR 15 have the accuracy or trajectory of a 22-250?
@airshootist3 жыл бұрын
@@davidkelly3779 ARs can be extremely accurate and can be chambered in over 60 different calibers. 22-250 is moving SUPER fast, but even a hot 5.56 round can make it to 3200. You've seen Matt and crew dial for super long range shots using airguns, and the same can be done for powder burners. So yes, they do have the accuracy and similar trajectory to a 22-250, plus there are even 22-250 AR-10's available. AR15s are the smaller platform and AR10s are the larger platform for longer cartridges like .308, .22-250, etc. I'd much rather use a semi than a bolt gun, especially for troups of battling monkeys! :)
@KikiConzales3 жыл бұрын
I just last month got 2 Tikka's (30-06 and 308) and I realy like them. I have Browning x-bolt in 223 and it's good for range day and for smaller game but for moose and wildboar I use 30-06.
