MGM barrels are awesome. I bought one in .303 British and picked a twist rate specific to my ammo weight. With iron sights I am hitting clays at 200 yards

I purchased an Encore chambered in 22-250 15 years ago and never had any luck with it as a 300 -400 yard target rifle. It's been sitting in a case for ten years due to lack of interest. I believe my lack of success was due to the 1:12 twist rate. Anything under a 60 grain bullet wasn't accurate and anything over was a keyhole. I am seriously considering either a 224 Valkyrie or a 22-250 MGM Encore barrel. I have everything to reload 22-250, but if I decide to purchase factory loads, the Valkyrie is available in the heavier bullets and seem to be cheaper. I'm thinking either caliber in a 26" 1:8 twist would make nice short range target rifle.

In the words of the serial molester president, "I feel your pain". 1 in 12 twist is and 55 grain flat base or lighter weight bullet proposition. Heavier than 55 grain gives me wobblers.

22.250 barrels made for TC rifles just don’t shoot well. I’ve tried EABCO and two TC factory barrels.

I have a encore carbine in 22-250 15ins barrel , 44 mag 12 inch barrel and 45 70 15 inch barrel , i I also like my ruger no 1 in 220 swift

I bought an EABCO 22.250 barrel and a factory barrel from them, too. They are simply not accurate with bullets over 45 grains. I’ve tried dozens of reload combinations with no luck.

Got a 22" 1-14 twist from their in stock listings. Shooting OK... The thin Factory Stocks have been a challenge on the sand bags.. also the cheapy 3X9 also has a reticle that is a bit thick for ideal shot placement.. would like to varmint hunt some point next year... We'll see... But while the barrel pops there is very little recoil to speak of. I describe it as like .223 only FUN! VIHT N133 caused extraction issues even when it should not have been over pressure.. picked up some H380.. limited supply lately!!! Very much enjoying this.. kind of a target fun gun for me... Hope to get it a laminate stock set and much better scope next year...

@@matthewknight1910 Well it's faster and has alot more powder capacity. It runs at slightly lower pressures and has a longer neck which improves barrel life and bullet seating. Based on the 6mm Lee Navy so it has a nice case taper and a little rim that makes it feed super well. Super accurate I just love mine I have a ton of guns and my first centerfire ever was/is a M77 Ruger in .220 Swift. Excellent deer gun with correct bullet placement and good bullet construction. There are a few other ways to get 4k but not too many and the Swift is still the king. Get one you will love it.
