I like the 7 Rem Mag, I experimented with different bullet weights and powders. A very versatile round similar to the .270 Winchester, but with better bullet selection. I am interested in the Encore for .223 and .308. I owned a contender for years with 6.5 TCU, .223, and 30-30 barrels, a very good quality firearm.

I have an encore in the muzzleloader 300 WinMag and 35 Wheeling . I love them looking to get more barrels for that girl easy to carry in the woods and very dependable

Now I’m so confused on what I want. I wanted a 308 then 6.5 and now I want a 7mag. Some stop my confusion. Just want a deer rifle that will shoot 300 or 400 yards. Anyway some great info here. Thanks

@@MatchGradeMachine , how about a .338 Win Mag with a 1/8" Twist for the 300 Sierra custom throated???? 😁 Lapuas can get by with a 1/9.3" twist, however the slower .338 Win will need a 1/8.5"-1/8".

Shooting a 7 mag out of an Encore has got to suck. Recoil has to be very punishing and I wouldn’t want to do it. To the machos our there- go for it and enjoy.

I was shooting this rifle with no brake and it was manageable. We do suggest a brake or suppressor to help with recoil as well as a heavier contour to help take the kick out. I am no fan of harsh recoil and this was still decent to shoot. The rem mag is a ~65g charge of powder and typically 160g bullet. recoil will not be as bad as most 30 cal cartridges shooting larger heavier projectiles similar velocities.
