I shoot these in the house sometimes, they're pretty quiet in a heritage revolver, much louder and more powerful in a Ruger Mark I, but they won't cycle the slide.

Just seeing this video. Your test results help put my application/experiences into perspective. I have used the Colibrí rounds in a Ruger Wrangler for pest control. We keep chickens & quail, and have had problems with rats and even possums. Over the course of a number of weeks (about a year ago?) I used that Wrangler/Colibrí combination to dispatch a rat and two juvenile possums. But the rounds just barely got the job done. With the rat one shot was sufficient, but with the juvenile possums it took between 2-3 rounds each. The possums had gotten up into the rafters of our aviary. In both instances, the first shot brought them down, but it took subsequent shots to kill them. On the plus side, the rounds being fired from my revolver were no louder than a cap gun.

These are “flobert” projectiles. They were also called “bb caps” and used in .22 short “parlor guns” and “gallery guns.” These were used indoors like darts at private homes and clubs after drinking. Safe for indoor use but just as dangerous as a .22 short at close range.

I use them in a Cricket rifle (despite the explicit warning not to) for squirrels and the neighbors don’t care.

I bought a box of these and dutifully ignored all of the warnings on the box. I use these in a 16" 5.56 upper with a CMMG 22LR conversion kit. Of course, you have to manually charge it. Ive never had a squib, and it's great for squirrels at closer ranges. and warning away larger animals like raccoons since it literally bounces off of them at longer ranges.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect these to work at any distance over 10 yards really. This is for up close and personal frog hunting

It makes no noise coming out the rifle. It obliterates squirrel within 15 yds.

I think they're fun, good for screwing around. I believe they're strong enough for rodents and frogs for sure. But it's really just a fun cartridge. I like them. 👍

Yup, I bought them with the intention on using them for frogs and that's about it. Definitely fun

I remember watching a video a while ago talking about the American 180 being classified as a "less lethal" crowd-clearing rifle. This might be the only round I can see it firing where that description would actually be apt.
@russm675910 ай бұрын
Just out of fairness to Aguila, the speed on the box (like other 22 rounds) is tested out of a rifle barrel. Not a 5" pistol barrel. I know with a powderless round it shouldn't make that much of a difference, but other tests I have seen out of bolt action rifles show it moving closer to reported velocities.

Also doesn’t help he’s chrono-ing them from 10’ away, for a heavy/fast round it doesn’t matter but I would imagine the velo of these drops off rapidly

The math as far as most pellet gun laws says as far as small game you can definitely hunt with these. It has more force than most pellet guns and you could likely hunt rabbits or smaller.

I have a .177 pellet gun (rifle). I can conceal this combo easier from nosy neighbors than that, especially when it's dark. The rifle might be a bit too much.

I shoot these out of a heritage as well. If I try to shoot any distance, I think they must tumble or corkscrew because i have some shoot way off to the side.

BB gun would get the job done but admittedly, your way’s a lot cooler Have fun

For sure it'll get the job done. Another reason I bought it was for the 22 mag conversion

Constitutional carry is our right. When the constitution was written, and long afterwards there was not any gun licenses anywhere in United States. There is no mention of people being confined to the State they live in order to carry a firearm, and everyone at that time brought their firearm everywhere they wanted to go including across state lines. Outside of my home is anywhere in the United States as a legal citizen. Because the Supreme Court stated text , history and tradition is to be used, any legal citizen of the United States should be allowed to carry their firearm anywhere in the United States without a license or permit. Constitutional carry should be the law of the land. Please pass this message on to others .

Head shots on frogs done. Did I see bounce back ? You're good to go. So my dumb HOA has rules against any firearm shooting. I'd just make sure in your community. However you can't be reported for what can't be heard. 🤣🤣 Are frogs big enough for fried ???

I use these in a 16 inch rifle and you can take squirrels with no neighbors even hearing
@andrewmconrad2 жыл бұрын
I need to shoot them off a ceramic paver to see how much it'll bounce off. Admittedly, I won't shoot them anywhere but grass in case it goes thru or I miss, I don't want the projectile ricocheting anywhere I don't want it to. You can probably eat the frogs, but I never would. Only reason I want to shoot them is because they're poisonous towards dogs and my 🐶 is way more important than the cane toads
@mkshffr493610 ай бұрын
That's what I was going to say. It looked to me like they penetrated further and bounced back. The proper distance to look at is the end of the track not where the bullet ends up.
