I would say when it comes to choosing an action for a build the only one's worth considering are those with integral recoil lug and integral scope rail. Bolt raceways cut by EDM. Bolts machined as one piece. Gavin I'd love to see you get away from using a print in your builds. Having an action with bolt, barrel, reamer, and HS gauges is all you need to start machining. Take the action with disassembled bolt in it and measure your lengths by using calipers or a mike. Measure from front face of action to front of bolt lug for your length. For diameter use calipers on inside of front of action right up to where the threads begin and that will be your max diameter. If not, an integral recoil lug action add thickness of lug to length measurement. Also, it helps to know the TPI of the action. You do great machining work, and I can tell you have a process that suits you, so I don't expect to see you get away from prints. I did not mention the bolt counter bore. Me personally, I only like counter bore bolts. If using a cone breech bolt cut angle of bolt nose lugs until there is no contact. Counter bore, measure from bolt face to front face of bolt lug for depth most likely .150. Diameter measure with calipers outside sides of bolt lugs. Most likely .700. I cut .703. Reaming chamber, know how far the reamer traveled in bore when cutting and proceed with cutting until go gauge closes and go gauge with tape on rear dose not close. Measure tape to know headspace of chamber just cut. Awesome work you do Gavin, very cool shop and machines.
