22 Hours on the NS Charlotte District November 2-3 2018

Hello all! It's been a hot minute since I've uploaded anything major. Unfortunately, I've been busy with school and travel for the last few years. I will slowly transition back into the process of uploading more videos when time permits. This particular upload has been one I've been fixing to post for a good while. In it, you'll see the operations of Norfolk Southern's Charlotte District mainline on the Piedmont Division. This was before NS's cut in of TOP21 (an element of Precision Railroading) in the Summer of 2019. Because of this, many call times for trains in and out of Linwood yard were shifted to overnight hours. Trains were also rerouted or eliminated altogether as a result of TOP21. Back then, everything was in full swing and very consistent. Thirty-two trains were captured in a 22 hour time frame from the evening of November 2nd into the next day on November 3rd. November 3rd was also the popular annual "Railfan Day" event up in Thomasville, NC on the NS Danville District. The Danville District, however, did not have as much fortune for rail traffic as the Charlotte District did in the late morning hours on that Saturday, leading to the masses heading down to the south end of Linwood from the event. Many made it in time for the parade that closed out a fun-filled day of railfanning. This video serves as an example of how many trains traversed on the mainline before the changes that lied ahead of TOP 21. Train descriptions and locations are below. Enjoy!

Loved the video. The lead engine on 204, number 7714, is a es44dc I've been inside thanks to a local crew. It looked like it did then as it did when I was in it.
