Another perspective here: a lot of people who get into endurance sports don't need to be taught to "grind harder". A lot of people in my age range (~40 years) beat the crap out of themselves, because they feel guilty taking days off. My running got way better when I started forcing myself to take days off. Then I was able to give a good effort 5 days a week instead of just feeling constantly worn down running 6-7 days a week. If you are able to give a seven on all seven days of the week, that's awesome. I'd love to be able to. But for a lot of us, we need more recovery in our week or we end up giving threes and fours seven days a week.

My take away: don't do a long run in a shoe you don't want to run in. 😁

Killing it! Also really enjoying the nature sounds! Curious how it compares to Endorphin Shift 3. Keep up the good work!
@supwell9 ай бұрын
Shift 3 is def firmer but more rockered. Also the lower drop on the shift makes it so much smoother

As a heavier athlete ,shoes like these are just right. These sound like the Infinity Run 4s to me. Interesting that a lot of runners dont know what to do with those either, but I love them. The foam is more supportive with a more gradual give which works hand in hand with the bigger drop.

Dude madd respect for what you bring to the running community, your work ethic and dedication is that of a professional Let’s give a huge shoutout to your wife supporting the running passion. Ok enough blowing smoke Have you or can you provide comparison of the Rebel v4 and the Super Comp Trainer V2. Looking to replace my 280 miles Boston 12. Waiting to see what goes down with Boston 14 Another note based on your recommendation picked up a pair of Diadora Gara, with hopes this would be HM racing shoe for Summer and Fall. After three 14 mile runs, not going to come to fruition. Each time after 11.5 miles shoe went dead. Normally would say it’s the runner not shoes, but too experienced to go there. Not 100% giving up on the Gara, have a 8K charity race in few weeks and will use them, in place of ATS 9. Furthermore did exact same 14 mile course in NB SC Elite v3 and pushed to 16 miles with no issues. Catching up on your shoe reviews the Glycerin 2 is my training rotation. Use them on fast pace ladder days, and shorter strides workouts.
@supwell9 ай бұрын
thanks allen! and sorry to hear about the gara - i did a 20 miler in it and it was solid, but i could see how the softer foam might not work for longer runs. in terms of rebel v4 vs sc trainer v2, the rebel is better for shorter and faster runs and the sc trainer v2 for longer runs/more comfort. so depends on what you're looking for in terms of a boston 12 replacement - if it's for longer runs and comfort i'd go sc trainer v2 or even novablast 4. if you want something fun and bouncy then skyward x. rebel v4 only if you want something for shorter and faster runs

I have a pair of the Triumph 22s. I love the Saucony Speeds, but was looking for something easier on the legs. So far I really like them. They feel plenty soft and cushy to me. I’m about 190 and have a center foot strike so maybe that would account for the difference in run experience. They feel like softer version of the Shifts (which I didn’t like).
@Silverwood0856 ай бұрын
I tried them on yesterday and almost bought them too I have 2 pairs of speed 2 and I was looking to replace my Shifts originals and I found them much softer than I thought but harder than the speeds for sure, but I ended up with Invicibles 3 trying something else btw 210lbs here so I give them the smash
@abelimages9 ай бұрын
Your milage in single runs is impressive. Well done. I ran in the Triumph 18 and really enjoyed that shoe. Since then the changes made in the 19 and onwards the shoe hasn’t been anything special. So moved on to other brands that have better shoes cheaper or same price.
@jorgemedina95269 ай бұрын
I was so exited for the Triumph 22 that for the first time in my life I preordered shoes at full price without even trying them. Every one of these reviews it’s like a dagger in the 💔.
@tuckertech9 ай бұрын
Ok I have never worn the Triumph 20 and 21 but these 22’s work for me. I think it’s because I am a heavier runner (over 200 lbs) with a wide foot. Most people who like them I’ve found are heavier and thus the extra force keeps them from feeling too firm. As I add more miles I’ll see how I like them but based on my initial run they are working well for me.
@southboy188 ай бұрын
Same, at 200lbs they work for me and the 20 and 21 were meh.

Question…. How long do you digest before running after your breakfast?
@supwell9 ай бұрын
Depends how much time I have that day - some days it's an hour and others it's 10 minutes. I don't really have stomach issues when running so can get away with that

And talking about the Adidas Ultraboost, I thought that we would not see a new version this year. But it seems that the Ultraboost (Light 2) 24 is still coming and what I saw in some pictures, the outsole got changed a bit and it should gain more grip cor the toe off by the big toe. That was what was missing for me with the Ultraboost Light . No matter how old and heavy many complaints about the Ultraboost, but I'm a fan and it works for me since the Ultraboost 21 and I will wait to see the new model ! Hopefully, with 1 or 2mm more stack and dropping the drop to 8mm would make it perfect for most, but I doubt that they will change the 10mm drop. Anyway, it should be one of the best running shoes around for durability and should kick to the corner this Saucony Triumph 22.

This definitely looks like a shoe that needs some weight to get it going. I was really looking foward to them since I really like my T20's but I'm having second thoughts if this should be my next long cruiser....what would you recommend for a 155lbs guy my friend?

I may be missing some context but if you’re running or exercising for longevity, it may be wise to also consistently lift weights. Muscle mass and strength are even better predictors of long life and lower all-cause mortality. It would definitely impact your running just as a warning

@tomrichardson54339 ай бұрын
For shin splints, first look to a sports med doc or pt to make a recovery plan. As far as shoes, look for good cushion and reasonably stable. Pro 3 & Speed 3 fit this. I think Superblast would also, even if not on sale.

Triumph 19 was 8 mm drop shoe. They went to 10mm with 20/21 presumably to counter more compressible softer version of PWRRUN+ foam in those. With the firmer implementation of PWRRUN PB in his shoe I totally expected them to go back to 8mm. I agree the upper is too thick especially for my Texas weather. I would rather pay a bit more and get Speed 4 over this.

Yup, just as I suspected. When someone says “I didn’t feel the weight” on an initial review, my mind always says “riiight, gimme 20 and get back to me”. I think when shoe companies “democratize” shoe designs it simmers them down to the lowest common denominator, and let’s face it most runners aren’t doing 20 mile long runs.
