Illinois fan chiming in….Good to have both programs back in the national spotlight. Obviously NU is a historically good program and we’d be over the moon with 7-9 wins year in and year out. Feagin is big and fast (22 mph) butttt…it takes him about 4 strides to hit that gear. If NUs D-line is able to get a push, he kinda hesitates to commit to a hole. He’s not a shifty dude to sidestep a tackle unless he’s got momentum in the open field. Ca’lil Valentine is our slippery, cat quick RB with the ability to make dudes miss. But he’s a true freshman. Our defense always shows one coverage pre snap and immediately bails into something else once the ball is snapped. That’s why we’ve been able to have 6 INTs, QB thinks it’s man and it’s zone or quarters. Middle of our D-line is pretty average and can be exploited. We’re inconsistent on the edges and haven’t had much success at getting to the QB. Our best pass rush comes when we blitz a corner. As a fan, I always believe in my team when facing a similar opponent. But the realist in me is that I’ve seen this movie before, IL gets ranked and our next game we get kicked in the balls. I think your fans will be slobbering to finally have NU ranked again and throw a ranked team in as the opponent, and it’ll feed the NU team and cause false starts and communication problems for us. Illinois' defense is designed to trick the QB. The show man but then swtich to zone. I think Dylan Raiola has shown that he's disciplined enough to not fall for it. As for the defense, its gonna be all about getting to the quarterback. They run the ball well but the way they win is the quarterback getting comfortable. Defense can't let that happen.

Raiola hasn’t faced a defense yet that’s shown one thing pre snap and bail into something else. And we mix it up, it’s not always a man look pre snap.

31-17 Neb. Illinois offense will struggle against Nebs D, and Nebs offense should be able to move the ball. Winning the turnover battle will be key. Also, think Nebs defense will be able to get pressure.

So originally I was in agreement with you that this could be a trap game and its closer than it seems. However when i looked back at the uni game it seemed to me that they were trying out alot of new things in stopping the run, i.e only having 3 or 4 dlinmen and relying on stefon thompson to make tackles which he wasent. I think the also kept their run d vanilla and didn't show too much.I think with gbayor and butler back and if we open up the playbook i dont see illinois having a consistent rushing attack. I just think we are better enough on both sides of the ball to win. We can stop them more than they will be able to stop us. I dont see illinois scoring more than 20 on us. 31-17 huskers

Yeah we could've ran up the score on these games a lot more. On both offense and defense we were messing around with different calls. They even had raiola calling plays himself for a drive it looked like.

Daniels from Kansas does not have the arm talent that Raiola has. He struggled to throw the ball 45 yards, so the ball was flying on a flat arc allowing Illinois DBs to get picks from in front. Several of their picks would've been long gains for Kansas with a stronger pass.

You need to go back and rewatch that KU game. All 3 INTs were leaping grabs by our secondary.

Let’s not forget just how BAD jaylen daniels is for Kansas and he has no business throwing the ball. He has 6 ints on the year already. I think the secondary is getting a little too much credit for the caliber of QB they’ve been playing against.
