I had a really bad day recently. When I came back home from work and heard that my mother was diagnosed with a severe illness, I was very devastated. I couldn't sleep well until four in the morning. I was not really in the mood to go to work or talk with anyone. But then, I tried to grab something to eat and drive my scooter to work. On the way to work, I had to weave in and out of sluggish traffic. There was a feeling of emptiness and frustration in me. I just thought about my mother as well as medical treatments for her illness. At work, I received my students' results in a Cambridge English exam. I was quite disappointed that one of my students failed the exam. I wanted to cry like a kid, but I couldn't do that in front of my colleagues. Some of my students asked me if I was ok or not. I just nodded at them and we said goodbye to each other. I quietly left the school and got in my scooter. On the way home, I was caught in a torrential downpour. Finally, to cap it all, I realized that I had left my phone and some important documentaries at the workplace. That was one of the worst days in my life.
@Oxfordonlineenglish14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing another excellent response, Vy Ngo! Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) '...with anyone, but I decided to...' not, '...with anyone. But then...'. 2) '...got on my scooter,' not, 'in'. 3) 'important documents,' not, 'documentaries'. Hope this helps you!

The other day I had a really bad day. I was tossing and turning all night. I fell asleep around 4 am but still, I woke up at 7 before my alarm went off. I was grumpy all morning, I could hardly pull myself together, so I was also late for work. When I got home I was still in a bad mood so I fell out with my family as if everything was their fault. Before dinner, I got a call from my friend saying that she had had a minor accident. She did not get injured but my car damaged. I was totally devastated, I did not want to talk to anybody but watching a good movie and sipping tea. But, to cap it all I broke my favourite mug while making tea. At that point, I thought that it was the worst day in my life but later I realized that it depends on how I take look back on that day. It could be worse:)
@Oxfordonlineenglish13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing a great response. Nice job. Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) 'She did not get injured but my car was damaged,' not, 'but my car damaged'. 2) It might be better to say: 'I did not want to do anything but watch a good movie and sip tea,' instead of, 'I did not want to talk to anybody but watching a good movie and sipping tea'. 3) '...depends on how I take a look back on that day,' or, '...depends on how I look back on that day,' not, 'depends on how I take look'. Yesterday I went to bed very late so it was difficult to sleep but when I got it, the night was plenty at nightmares and the consequences were that in the morning I was tired because it was impossible to rest but it was not even the worst, the morning was full of tiny incidents and at lunchtime suddenly I had a strong stomach ache and I was not able to lunch, after that, I tried to finish my work but my mind did not run well and my body either so I decided back home, to cap it all when I was about to take the car I noticed that my pocket was empty and the key of my car had disappeared, what a shit! , how it was possible so many misfortunes together? then my phone rang and I could have a talk to my girlfriend and the sky turned to blue and all the black clouds flew out, possibly that is the Love.

Last Friday was a completely terrible day for me. I wake up early in the morning like normal for my morning exercise. When i was running around a park, i stepped on a dog poop. I came back home because i couldn't stand the smells of poop anymore. When i arrived my house, i found out that i forgot my key, i tried to call my son but he was asleep and seemed to can not hear nothing, so i was locked out until my son got up. I did not have enough time for my bathing after doing excercise or even time for breakfast. I hurriedly drove to office, and it was the second time in my day that i forgot something as I forgot the slide that I prepared the night before for the presentation about our new product.

Thanks for watching the lesson and sharing your response, Diana! You used some good vocabulary and sentence structure. Here are some corrections for you: 1) 'I woke up early,' not, 'wake'. 2) '...I stepped in dog poop,' not, '...i stepped on a dog poop'. 3) '...couldn't stand the smell of...' not, 'smells'. Hope this helps you!

Last month I took my nephew to my sister's house before I went to work. While I was riding motobike, I realized that I wore thongs instead of shoes. When I almost arrived my sister's place, she called me and said that she would come to my place later, and told me to bring nephew back to my home. I was really frustrated, when I got back home, I couldn't come in because I gave my keys to other sisters as she lost her keys already. So i had to put my nephew at neighbour's house and rided to work with thongs. I was late 30 min. It was really annoying!

Thanks for sharing your response about your day, Lucia! Here are some corrections for you: 1) 'While I was riding my motorbike,' not, 'riding motorbike'. 2) 'When I'd almost arrived at my sister's place,' not, 'When I almost arrived my sister's place'. 3) '...to bring my nephew back...' not, 'bring nephew'. While I watch it I realise that my skills has been getting higher and really modern, and useful as well! When you give me some bright or even simple response my motivation improves, and getting higher my interest in activity on your page! Sometimes I have many words to say, and I’d like to use it in my affair. Who knows what it will bring in my future but some actions and small talks among English speaking community satisfied my principle desire to make my own world wider and comfortable. P. S. I write some comments only on a channel in whose job I’m interested mostly. Live and learn it’s my own credo, and despite some difficulties I’ve been following my dream.

Some say every dog has his day, but not every day good luck is with the dog. For me, yesterday was not a lovely day. I got up early, but it was overcast outside, ‘What a day!’ I thought. But the awful weather was just an overture to a series of situation comedies in this day. I took a shower, but the water was cold because the solar heater ceased to work. ‘It seems, I am not the only one disturbed by the bad weather.” I said to the heater. Then I combed my hair, and found there were so many grey hairs on my head that I, actually, failed to pluck them out one by one. ‘Perhaps the grey hairs can make a man look really distinguished.’ I smiled at the mirror, reluctantly. To cap it all, the last and the worst one in the list of bad things was that I did not receive Alanna’s reply finally. She should have gotten in touch with me yesterday, but my mail box was empty except a set of spam marketing. One read, ‘ Every dog has its day, and every man his hour. Please click this link......’
@Oxfordonlineenglish14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your response, Tom! Here are some corrections for you: 1) I'm not exactly sure of your meaning here, but consider these revisions: '...on my head that I'd failed to pluck out,' or, '...on my head so I attempted to pluck them out one by one,' not, '... on my head that I, actually, failed to pluck them out one by one'. 2) '...worst one on the list of bad things...' not, 'in'. 3) '...I hadn't received Alanna's reply yet,' not, '... I did not receive Alanna’s reply finally'. Hope this is useful for you!

Yesterday I had a terrible day. At work I had unexpectedly almost 26 guests who had a breakfast with 4 tables available for two people per each. The buffer was already finished in an hour and there was still remained client. Our another guest also claimed that there were no space to eat. I had no choice so I went to the supermarket nearby our hotel to buy foods missing like some meat, croissants and etc. After doing breakfast at our guests, another clients rang the exterior bell and wanted to check in even the room was not ready. I let the new guests to stayed at the hall and used the bathroom while there were waiting. Finally, to cap it all, when I arrive home, I unfortunately forget my cellphone at the reception desk, so I had to come back at my place to get it. I had a exhausted day.

Thank you for sharing, Rosemarie! Here are some corrections for you: 1) '...I unexpectedly had almost 26 guests...' not, 'had unexpectedly'. 2) '...and clients were still there,' not, '...and there was still remained client'. 3) '...other clients rang the...' not, 'another clients'. Hope this helps you!
