Thank you for giving me the courage to do this and to ignore the random extra screw I got!

Thank you. This helped me fix my mouse. One thing I'd like to add, I have two sets of Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard & Mouse. This mouse in particular has a defect where the side buttons stop working after a certain time with use. That's because the rubber around the button tends to loosen and will fill the gaps around the buttons, therefore blocking their movement. After opening my mouse, I realized this and so I went ahead and used an exacto knife to cut a hole beneath the blue Windows button by following the groove that's already there to frame the side button. Once the rubber was removed, the side button plastic flap underneath was exposed and allowed it to return to an unpressed state, and the blue button finally had the room to be pressed down.

hi there, thank you for your video! my mouse started to not turn on at times and after following the video and opening it, found the spring at the battery to be a little corroded. after cleaning it and clearing out some dust at the mouse wheel, it is working good as new! awesome work with the video and keep it up!

Hey thank you so much for this, my mouse has the Model number 1560 / China Model 1560C with the title "Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse" and this video helped me get into the right places to fix my problem. My problem was that the BACK button was stack on perma-pressed. The workaround was to loosen the two black screws, apparently. Let's see if it holds up. I loved your helpful suggestion to not be afraid to "crack" open the side once the two silver screws were gone :D It was nice hearing about why you think it's good build because of soldering. Perhaps you could talk about what makes a good mouse build quality, what you noticed between brands/series. Also perhaps there's this conspiracy theory in the Logitech Trackball world that speculates that the LMB switch is built-to-fail, requiring replacement of the trackball mouse, since soldering is not a trivial thing for most. In case you know anything about that, that'd be cool to hear.

Thanks very much, been having clicking issues, took it apart with help of this vid, needs more force that I'd think

which clicks? left /right mouse button or - like me - the back button? Just curious.

@@leandrooliveira3321 Followed the video using a thick guitar pick, put more force in popping the cover off than I was comfortable with, can't be too gentle. Something small had gotten under the clicker and was occasionally blocking it.

@@andrew2272kag great! I'll do the same, because this is really annoying! Thanks for the tips, man.

Hi there. Great video! I have the exact same mouse and the other day the scroll wheel stopped working. The press function works fine, but no scroll up or down whatsoever. You did not mention anything about the encoding sensor. Is there a chance to clean it or something, or I should go ahead and get a new mouse? I have already open and cleaned both sides of the infrared sensor with no success... Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the video. Please help me with my question - if my back key (the side one where your thumb goes) is stuck and seems to be pressing back every few seconds or so, do you think I can just cut the red and black wire coming from it? I don't need the back button to work (nor the blue Windows button to be honest). Or can you suggest some other simple solution? :) Thanks a lot!
