Although each round went through just one block, the 22-250 definitely did more damage. It transferred more energy towards the second block, and also threw the pieces of the first block higher than the .223.
@ckim64004 жыл бұрын
Seems the projectiles react the same on concrete pavers even if there is a difference in speed. The real difference would appear in a tissue target such as whole turkey's.

C Kim Yeah, if you want to penetrate hard things like Rock or Ceramic you need something with a big diameter and mass to break it. The Pircing like a nail through butter ( thats what a solid bullet does to steel by bushing it to the side ) doesnt work here, because rock is to hard so the bullet gets damaged, and also it isnt compressible so the material has nowhere to go.

Unless the rounds were loaded eith greentips, this makes no sense. The 5.56 was designed to use the green tip to penetrate the Soviets new Kevlar helmets. Imagine what a greentip in a 22-250 might do? The 22-250 became popular because it extended the zero hold range for popular varmint targets not because nyone though penetration mattered. Ican tell you the a 75 grain spire point in a 22-250 will knock a 400lb mule deer at 300 yds/A 223 won;t do that

Not even close to a tie. The 22250 has far higher velocity & as a result far higher hydraulic pressure. In a soft tissue test like a ham, pork butt or turkey, the damage would be far more sever with the 22250. As for penetration, the 22250 almost knocked the second paver over & coated it with a thick static patch of dust.

@jeffreylocke88084 жыл бұрын
The faster 22-250 terminally damaged the 55 grain bullet at the higher velocity and RPM's so it would not go any deeper. Only do greater damage to the paver when it hit. More than the slower 223 with the same type and weight bullet. Thanks for posting your video. How about the 500 S&W magnum and 454 Casull and 44 magnum in paper plates?

The limitation here is all about the projectile itself. That 55 gr. pill absolutely absolutely self-destructs against concrete at anything above a set velocity. More MASS is needed to defeat hard cover. This is why there are still so many old-school guys who continue to preach the superiority of 7.62 vs. 5.56 in the real world.

You use a short-barreled and ineffective rifle with 223 caliber in all sections, as for the rest of the calibers, you use a strong and suitable rifle. It makes a tremendous difference on the knuckles, sometimes refusing to break. ( the blocks not the knuckles). The wet one would need to be soaked for 5 min. or longer.
