I bought my first pellet smoker (GMG Daniel Boone) a few months ago. Ready to do a brisket this coming weekend and this was the first KZbin video I pulled up. Saw that Chattanooga shirt at the 11:00 minute mark. I live here as well. Enjoyed the video, meat looks great!

D Grill, good demo of the Green Mountain Grill. Not sure about brisket at 2:30am tho. Is 17 hours the the usual time needed for the GMG to hit that 195f target? End product looks sensational.
@DGrill
@DGrill 5 жыл бұрын
A _brisket is done when it's done_ . Every brisket is different. The GMG can cook a brisket as fast as you want. I did one in just 8 hours here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWisnKprerapjZY It's not a question of how long the cooker/smoker/grill will take. The question is, how much time does the grill master (you) want to devote to the effort 😉👌🏿👍🏿? Good things come to those who wait.

Hey D Grill, Awesome job. Was it complicated to create the Texas Cheat profile? Lots of family things going on and I wanted to start my brisket three days ago. I finally got it started at 4:30 PM this evening. I used the GMG profile for my Daniel Boone. Next time I would like to try the Texas Cheat profile. I just subbed and rang the bell.

Approx How much pellets did you use on this cook? When I did your Pulled Pork Recipe, I used almost an entire 20 lb bag. It's cold here now so I get that has an effect too. About 30-35 degrees here.
@DGrill
@DGrill 5 жыл бұрын
Anything not stated in the video I don't recall. But you're going to use *way more pellets* cooking in freezing temps. One of several reasons most grill KZbin channels don't do much in the winter 👍🏿

@@DGrill Thanks. My daughters friend, who recommended the GMG to her for my X-mas Present, also suggested buying a Welder's blanket to drape over it. It was about 23 bucks at Harbor Freight. It worked pretty well and is much cheaper than the insulation attachment for the grill.

Do you feel the butcher paper helped over the foil?
@DGrill
@DGrill 6 жыл бұрын
From my experience, I feel you can make a great Brisket either way. But the Butcher Paper does seem to somehow result in a more moist and tender Brisket. The Butcher Paper makes having a moist & tender Brisket easier. Also, Butcher Paper is inexpensive. So it saves from using up the foil. And the foil can be put to use for other things 👍🏿.

Did you have to refill your pellet hopper for this during your smoking? Or was it able to go though the whole 17 hours on one full pellet hopper?

D Grill oh my that’s it? I thought lots of people run these overnight while going to bed? What happens if it runs out does it shut off or dies a heating element hold it over?
@DGrill
@DGrill 6 жыл бұрын
@@andrewgaffka3525 All depends what you want to pay for. There are different models. See these videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZfVe6iaor5piM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKS0h2xogtiMmM0 The Rec Tec Bull RT-700 holds 40 pounds of pellets. Enough for this Brisket and more. And that convenience comes at a high premium price. They were asking about $1800, but have since come down to about $1200. They are very good Grills. Arguably the best.

The final product looked excellent and had a decent smoke ring but I didnt see the grill producing a lot of smoke for some reason? Do you get lots of smoke out of the gmg?
@DGrill
@DGrill 6 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can run a pellet smoker overnight. It all depends on how much you're willing to pay for the convenience . See this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZfVe6iaor5piM0 There are different levels of the pellet Smoker. Also see this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKS0h2xogtiMmM0 The more you pay, the longer you can sleep on it 😂. What happens when pellets run out depends on the grill. But none have any sort of backup heater. Bottom line, if any of them runs out, you're toast! The GMG line has an alarm, that goes off well before you run out. The GMG line low pellet alarm comes from the Grill with loud beeping, like you can hear it in your house loud. And it also raises an alarm on the app. I usually get the alarm on the app. So I only have 5 hours of pellets in the hopper, because I didn't buy a more expensive model . Rec Tec has the best in this regard. It can hold 40 pounds of pellets. That's enough for this Brisket and more.

The Smoke Ring tells the tale. See: instagram.com/p/BnJVYd2lx-d/?igshid=pj7evqeoz6ot It smokes plenty. You may not be aware, the _best smoke_ is not really visible. You smell it, taste it and recognize the smoke ring in the final product. It is the best penetrating best tasting smoke. But watch more of my videos. There are times it makes lots of visible smoke. kzbin.info/aero/PLpV4xb-88CyTSBc8zpLLlberij5xt9Khg

well i got sad news for the green mountain people i just picked up a 30-06 pellet smoker and man its a double wall smoker and lays down the smoke like a stick burner and flavor is on the mark, temps are great as well, i doing a brisket cook 17 lbs at 225 degrees an i have a mustard rub with chillies, and south western seasonings and miss dash table blend i did hamburgers first 15 lbs and now cooking the brisket slow and low i injection of meat with apple juice as well, an the red ring covers all the meat and the smoker kicking blue smoke out stack and smells out of this world man i just want a bite of meat now but nope i have to do the wait till she done and done will be a good sign so its right to smoke good food i just could not buy one more china smokers i have had 6 of them and all epic failures so i went and got a U.S.A. MADE SMOKER now i see what i have been missing and flavor is there pellets take days to go threw them for me. i bet you cant sit on the table of your smoker i can its that heavy duty and its nice and double wall built threw out. hopper 35 lbs, pellet shut, removable burn pot for fast clean, made to last.
@DGrill
@DGrill 3 жыл бұрын
Retail price for that is $2,300. Glad you can afford it. The rest of us will live with GMG and don't plan to sit on the side table. It holds food, which is the purpose. It's not that we lack desire, but many cannot afford to always buy 100% American made 🙂🇺🇲 Especially for higher end items like specialty grills. GMG is an American company.

Watch again at 9:28 As I explained, some meat was torn as I took it out of the cooler. It has absolutely nothing to do with the cut. And as demostrated in the cut, it was a very smooth cut. I use J.A. Henckels International knives, with a self sharpening cutting block. Very high quality and always a sharp cut. 👍🏿
