Hello from Tennessee USA! So I found you because of Arne and Carlos (who I've watched for years and I've learned to knit from) and feel like we've got so many things in common. Listening to this video you mention Charles Dowding....who I've followed for 2 years now and who has inspired my "no dig" garden. I laughed so much! Wonderful to know there are friends all over the world.

Hi Kate. Always lovely to catch up. What a story about the bees. I think you will check it next time you leave something in your shed. 😉 The cats are gorgeous. I had two myself that looked like Rita. A mother and daughter, Louise and Jamie. Oh about rhubarb. Most people sweeten it with sugar but my former boss taught me to sweeten it with strawberries. I love it and never had any rhubarb with sugar ever since. I worked in at greengrocer when I was 19 (long time ago) and learned so much about vegetables and gardening. My beautiful plants are also not making it during this heat. No matter how much I water them it will just all run through the compost/dirt and hit the pavement 2 stories down. Like it did with your table with the salad. I didn't stop watching. 😉 it's like visting and catching up. Have great sunday evening. ❤ from the Netherlands.

You actually sounded tired when you described how you felt afterwards and on IG when you said you were having trouble getting out of bed it reminded me of how I feel when I do any kind of gardening. I remember my maternal grandmother serving new baby potatoes with garden peas in a white cream sauce. Rhubarb is my favourite and also a childhood memory 💚 My favourite way to prepare it is to take about 15 cups of chopped rhubarb in a soup pot, add about 1 1/2 cups of water & and stew it till it’s cooked down to a consistency that you like. Take it off the heat, let it cool for about 10 min then add 1/2 cup brown sugar at a time, stirring and tasting till sweet enough. Usually 1 1/2 cups or less will be enough. I freeze it in 2 cup containers. When I want some I take it out, heat it up and serve over ice cream 🍨

Chicken in the house! When my children were small we raised turkeys every year ( along w/ chickens and ducks). The turkeys loved to hang out on our deck and would try to get into house when one of the children were coming or going - they were large bold turkeys and small brave children battling it out! Amusing! Sorry about your cat situation - hopefully getting Sadie fixed will solve problem! Always some drama going on! (humans are not only ones creating drama!)

Hi Kate Lovely to see you again. Love that you where able to collect all your bees . My bees Australian native stingless have been out a couple of times this week. As they are a tropical variety they don’t leave the hive below 18C and we had a few quite cold days the last few weeks in Sydney. Anyway I decided that it is time to get ready for spring so I bought a whole variety of seeds. Sunflowers, poppies, Cosmos all going in the pots tomorrow or maybe Saturday. The girls (bees) will love it. I hope Sandies hormones are settling soon . Warmest greetings from down under Sue

Kate, thanks for the update, so nice to see sweet Eileen even without her tail feathers! : She and the chickens are probably enjoying the cooler day, and will perk up again. All that work and effort in the garden has really paid off, it looks amazing! My tomatoes are growing huge with really strong thick stems, with lots of fruit growing fast, so I am so looking forward to eating those for sure. I usually grow only the cherry tomato varieties as we have a short growing season here and also you don't have to wait until the very end of the season to enjoy eating them, as these ripen throughout the season. Growing and eating your own food is very satisfying and it truly tastes so much better than store bought. You don't have to worry about pesticides and other issues, because you know exactly what is in and on it. Organic all the way is the best! And the taste is so delicious, and one of the best parts is sharing it with neighbors and friends, makes a bountiful crop and all the hard work and effort well worth it! : ) Laughed when I saw at the very end of your video one of your chickens checking out the house probably in hopes of moving in to a bigger "hen house"! lol First kittens, and now chickens in the house they probably thought, hey why not? lol. Loved the adorable kitten update, Harry's face was precious! They all were, just makes you want to hug and snuggle them, so glad they all found homes, and you can visit them, makes it fun without all the work and effort of more cats! Too many cats can bring issues, as they do get jealous and territorial sometimes. Enjoy the cooler weather and rest and enjoy sitting in your beautiful garden, and looking at all your amazing work and effort sitting amongst your beautiful flowers for all the bees and butterflies to enjoy also. :)
@thelasthomelyhouse6 жыл бұрын
I agree completely - all the hard work is rewarded with that first taste of fresh delicious veg! My tomatoes are looking ok, but I'm not expecting a huge harvest. Unlike the gherkins - I have hundreds of those! It's so completely rewarding. I saw Harry and Thomas again today, Lorna asked if I would give them their first worming tablet - she was nervous and I'm an old hand!! I have a special thing that shoots the tablet (half in their case) down their throat. Well, they don't like me anymore! But they do like Lorna so that is ok!! I'm watering all round now, so i should go and move the hosepipe! Take care XXX

Made me glad he was my fav Beatle all those years ago.

J B oh, it was the best thing I had seen in years! I absolutely loved the very start, when James was on the phone ........ ‘ help, I need somebody, not just anybody, won’t you please, please help me?’ Ohhhh it cracked me up. I’m from southport, just down the road from Liverpool, and I was a kid when the Beatles were just starting out, so I feel a massive connection to the place and that time, and while John was clever and George was sensitive, Paul had my heart. He can do no wrong. ❤️❤️❤️👏🏻
