I really appreciate how open you are with us, its one of the things I really love about your channel and you. I am super worried about transfer addiction specifically with shopping, I feel like that one can be overlooked so thanks for bringing it up. Good for you for seeing potential red flags and course correcting, it really shows your dedication to the process and committing to this lifestyle!

Just ate 2 croissants. Was beating My self around it and feeling like I'm letting my bypass down. Then I watched this video and felt like someone relates.

It's so hard for us to get out of that old mentality, I have been there and continue to be there. Lately I've been really feeling like I'm letting myself and my bypass down, even though there isn't any hard evidence of that. When I make choices that aren't "on-plan" so to speak, I feel like I'm doing the wrong thing when ultimately all I'm doing is my best at the moment and living my life. Hang in there - we can keep reminding ourselves and each other that we are doing our best and we are good enough. 💗

I’m pre-op. For Halloween, I bought my husband’s favorite candy, not mine. I still got into it. Even frozen. It made me feel awful, and the coconut shredded my gums (they still hurt). Brains are weird. Thank you for your candidness. I think too many people think surgery will fix our minds.

Brains are SO weird! The more I try to understand mine, the more confused I am 😆

There are several things that I simply cannot have at my house! I have a kiddo and there are a lot of things that don’t bother me or tell me too much but definitely a few things I just can’t keep around!

Agreed. I think we all have a couple of foods that are just off-limits. I wish it weren't the case but knowing is half the battle, and being mindful and aware of it is so helpful to being able to course correct for my own wellbeing!

Great video! I am worried about transfer addictions too! Thanks for the heads up. 😅 I lost 8 more pounds in the last 90 days which is so unusual at our stage post op. The fear of keeping the weight off is so REAL! I was in elementary school when I last weighed 154 lbs 😊. I have never kept weight loss off for 22 months! Good job with the soul searching ❤!

Great job! I had to look back and remind myself of where I was this time last year. I've lost 15 lbs. since last year and although that's not a ton and I feel like I'm stalling and failing so much of the time, the reality is that I HAVE lost some weight and I should be so much more proud of myself than I currently am.

Does your therapist recommend books to read? I would love to see some recommendations. Your still picking up on cues and being mindful. You are an inspiration because you share and awareness! Proud of your progress and your maintaining of your progress. I read in two locations today that intermittent fasting is good for adapting back into a weight loss pattern.

A tool I use is Kitchen Safe. Take one cookie or whatever and then, before you eat it, lock the safe for 24 hours. Impossible to open it. 😊

I’m getting the gastric band and struggle with some of the same issues with sugar and alcohol to cope with stress. Do you think you could have learned to be mindful without the surgery?

How do you handle the holidays? I had gastric bypass on August 16 2022

GREAT question. It's still new for me - I had surgery December 1st of 2020, so my first holiday season was spent with a very restrictive pre-op diet and then the post-op stages. Those first few months are spent just going through the motions. Last year was my first holiday season since surgery and I found I was able to indulge in moderation fairly easily. I still didn't have much of a sweet tooth after surgery and COVID restrictions were just really starting to lift so there wasn't a lot of get-togethers or temptations in all honesty. This year, I'm going into the holidays in a much different place. I still want to have the mindset of indulging in moderation but my sweet tooth and desire to eat to cope is starting to come back, so I will have to learn to find that balance. I don't want food or fear of my weight to ruin my life anymore, but I can't throw caution to the wind either. How do I handle the holidays? I try to do my best with what I've learned and meet myself where I'm at realistically. And I try to remember not to assign morality to food and food choices or that starts to put me in a bad mental space.

I’m pre-op and trying to gradually eat better but Halloween was a bit tough. Can’t have it around the house.

I was pre-op during Halloween, too. It was rough! But it was also in 2020 when no one was trick-or-treating or getting together so in a way, I kind of dodged a bullet there haha 😅

I told my husband to hide the candy from me because I can’t resist candy but he has self control and wants it around.

I can totally relate! Candy in the house burns a hole in my brain, where my fiancé forgets it's there and will grab a piece occasionally. It's a tough situation to find balance when we're so different in those ways.
