I don't find anything wrong with her being happy about being 90% African, would you mind me being proud because I'm 100% European?
@EmpireArcadia
@EmpireArcadia 7 жыл бұрын
This isn't about you whoever you are. If you're European that's your business. This isn't a "ANTI EUROPEAN" post from me its a "PRO AFRICAN" post. Being proud and having pride in being African doesn't mean its an attack on Europeans. The fact that people take fear in that, is why they created a psychological system that has my brothers and sisters hating themselves. Our people have been psychologically assaulted to hate their own existence as an African. So I'm happy when I see one of my people being happy that they're African. It has nothing to do with not being European.

I never said it was an anti European post.

Ok so let's look at this simplistically. If it isn't a Anti European Post. If your not talking about the post being Anti European. If I'm happy she's happy and you're happy that she's happy. Then why are you bringing up if I would be proud of you being 100% European? I'm African, how would I be able to take pride in a ethnicity that I'm not from? It's one thing if you were to ask me if I would be happy for you if you're 100% European... and even that is still out of place because as I said this video this isn't about you. Also why would you come to a African based video to ask a African if they would be proud or happy of you being European? That's like a African going to a European DNA thread asking them to be happy he or she is African. Simply put... it bothers you that we take pride in our heritage, culture and ethnicity. Somewhere deep down that bothers you. Threatens you because we accept who we are and don't have to be validated by you. Do you know what that is called.... It's called being a "White Supremacist". Oh... and for a bit of education, it has nothing to do with your skin color... White Supremacy is a system and is in many dark skin people as well. What is it, is to have everyone think that every other facet of life, is inferior to that of White Europeans. So if anyone does not glorify the "Eurocentric" standard it is threatening. Well I have news for you... there are 5 billion + people like me... all dark like me. You should feel threaten. 500 years has passed... times up.

It does not bother me whatsoever that she is proud to be 90% African, not the slightest. What does bother me is people like you putting labels on me without any knowledge about me whatsoever. You sound like a huge racist, you don't know anything about me or where I am from. Why did you say that it bothers me? It doesn't. Good for her, good for me. You should take pride in who you are, just like I should, don't put stupid labels on me you jerk.

YES!!! Growing up, the only images of Africans seen were loin-cloth wearing hunters with spears in their hands. Society taught us that we weren't like them; we were DIFFERENT. Thanks to technology and social media, we can learn where we really come from, connect with them, and be proud of who we are.

Ronetta Wreh Thanks! My parents grew up at a time in the Caribbean where most of the people were closed off to the rest of the world. Any time there was someone who didn't look like the stereotypical "African", another race would be assigned to that person. My mom was definitely labeled African, but back in the 60s, my dad was called white or Asian by folks. I was known as my dad's Asian child because of my slanted eyes. I was happily shocked to see that over 90% of me comes from Africa. It made me feel so proud & I couldn't hide all that excitement! 😄

I love that story and I'm sure that your dad was happy to hear the results! Although I'm African born and dark, people repeatedly tell me I may have asian blood because my eyes are very slanted as well. However, being African, I'm aware that most africans have slanted eyes, lol. I need to take the test just for the hell of it! Thank you for replying :)

+Buffalo “Chris Truitt” New Yorker Oh yeah, it's a bit difficult to see the evidence of what our ancestors had to endure. Mostly all of us have genes passed down to us by the people who captured humans and made profits off of it. On a good note, most of our DNA comes from the Africans who survived the torture of captivity. If they hadn't survived, we wouldn't be here today. 😎

Thanks for watching & sharing your experience! In my head, I was guessing that I was at least 70% African due to my dad's maternal grandfather having close European ancestors. I started there, so I would've been happy with whatever my result was. 72% is still a high percentage of African. 72 is like having two 100% African, 1 100% European, & 1 mixed Grandparent. Don't be "almost" sad; you know you're still the hostess at the cookout! 👠
@poeticjustice144
@poeticjustice144 6 жыл бұрын
Alison Ryce I a said almost sad because it do like have a little bit of everything in me 16% European and 8% asian (Afghanistan and Pakistan), 3% middle eastern, and 1% Native American. Also, I do have 1 mixed grandpa. How did you know? I wish I could find more about my dad side. I also have Dominican which is a mixture of Africa, Iberian, and native American. So Dominican helped my African percentage a little.

Thanks for sharing! You're a child of the world! It would've been cool if you won the contest that 23andme had some months ago. They would've flown you to so many different countries on their dime. To learn more about your dad's side, you can test your mom and pay attention to all the DNA cousins that you have that aren't matches to your mom. Those folks are your dad's family. You can do that on GedMatch too If you need help in that area, i'd he happy to tell you more about it.

@AlisonRyce
@AlisonRyce 6 жыл бұрын
Terrence Gilliard Hi! Thanks for watching & responding! I'm actively trying to connect with the Ryce family in Barbados. My dream is to travel there, visit the archives center, and make connections with distant cousins. My late uncle Charles Adolphus Seales is the older half brother of the late Franklyn Seales (born 1952), who played Dexter Stiffins in the 1980s sitcom Silver Spoons. Their father was Francis Seales, a merchant Seaman who had my uncle with my grandmother in 1946. Mr. Seales, Franklyn, & the Seales in SVG aren't connected to me by blood, they're my uncle's family.

Thanks for responding Alison! I am actually from Saint Lucia and my dad's dad was Kenneth Ryce from Barbados but I never knew him for several reasons including the fact that they never kept in touch. Why do you got to expect some South Indian descent from Trinidad or Guyana ?

I'm a Nigerian, and I would say that you probably have a lot of Nigerian ancestry just from looking at your face. Just so people know, yes, Africans do have distinct unique features. How can we tell? We can just tell. Anyway, this makes sense since 86% of your DNA is from West Africa. Your nose reminds of the Yoruba people (in Southwestern Nigeria). There are many ethnic groups in Nigeria, but the Yoruba are a very numerous and famous ethnic group. This also makes sense since during the slave trade, many of them were taken to the Caribbean and especially to Brazil. There are even some people in Brazil who still can speak a form of the Yoruba language. Anyway, God bless and love from your Nigerian sister!

This was my same reaction when I saw 80% African ancestry. For me being of African American and Jamaican decent this made me extremely proud. I'm not going to lie. My heart swelled with pride. I was afraid the percentage would be less but I am so happy it isn't. I'm proud that my Caribbean and American Ancestors stuck together to give me that much of the Motherland's DNA.

It's peculiar to be so excited about ethnicity. I'm taking my 23AndMe test today and I'm simply curious. I will accept and celebrate whatever ethnic backgrounds are present. An excessive concern about bloodlines can be a source of division, ethnocentrism and racism.

Say it out loud, I'm black and I'm proud! I'm so happy 4 you! I wanna do the same test , but I guess I'm more european/white than black. I'm very lightskin, People don't even reconize me as a black. So I must be over 80 procent white and there is black in me too. I'm just curious about my ancestor results. This is so cool!
@AlisonRyce

It is cool! You should definitely do it! Whatever your results are, it's what makes you YOU. People will always try to put one label on you and try to force you to choose a side, but you're more than one label. It's possible that you're a beautiful mix of African and European. Don't ever let anyone make you feel like "you're not black enough". Leave them in their ignorant state and get closer to individuals that will celebrate you for who you are. I would love to know your results! Let me know what they are when you get them! 😊

😂 I know right???? 😂 I've been doing research on it and I learned that Indians have been living in East & Central Africa for many generations. I'm guessing that my Indian ancestors were Indians that were born in Africa. They mixed with my black African ancestors, then probably traveled west, got kidnapped, & sold to British slave owners in the Caribbean.

What i don't get about these tests is how they manage to tell you that you're 10% this and 90% when most of your ancestry doesn't get tested. like in my case i can only get my mother's mother's mother's.... ancestry result, which is 100% african and my father's father's father... which is also 100% African. Yet, my mother is half european, but from her father. So would i basically get 100% african in my tests results whereas i'm actually 25% european ? Note : I'm not african american, but african so I know precisely what is my ethnicity. or are there things i'm not getting here

What you're referring to is the Haplogroup test. It is often confused with the autosomal tests. Autosomal tests gives you your complete genetic makeup, while Haplogroup tests gives you only your maternal or paternal line.
