I'm Still Here || Treasure Planet 20th Anniversary

Happy 20th anniversary to one of my most favorite Disney movies of all time! Huzzah!
And to celebrate it, I thought it would be appropriate to finally make a video using the song from the movie! Which is kinda funny 'cause I've made so many TP videos over the years but I've never actually uploaded any videos using the main theme of the movie. Unless if you wanna count the very veeery first TP video I made that will most likely never see the light of day (like many others videos that I made... there's just... way too many lol)
But yes! I did indeed make a video with that song! And that was literally a day after I watched TP for the first time on KZbin... y'know... back when movies were split into parts on KZbin lol. Sadly, I never got around to seeing this in theaters and I was always a bit disappointed that I never did. But like I always say, better late than never!
I remembered about TP's existence through some Disney crossovers that I stumbled upon back in the spring of 2009 and I was thinking "Oh hey, I still haven't seen that movie! I should probably watch it!" aaaand... the rest is history!
There's just something very special about this movie and I'm glad that it has stuck with me all these years, along with the awesome people I met on the internet that share the same love for it. I might as well consider this as a little dedication to you all :)

honestly this movie was so well written because u don't need to relate by being in the same situation but rather by feeling the same things because i was never lacking in a father figure but i feel like but most parents, like mine, especially fathers, have a hard time being emotionally available for their children and the loneliness that causes makes it so easy to relate to jim because these feelings resonate. Furthermore through the connection he forms and the conflict he overcomes in his relationship with silver it just makes me heal a little through jim which is why this is one of my favorite movies.

When people talk about characters being "relatable" or not, this movie, and especially Jim is always what I think about it. I'm not a boy nor was I ever a juvenile delinquent nor did I have issues with school, but the lack of a father figure in Jim's life, how the man straight up walked out on his family when Jim was a kid old enough to remember and understand what was happening, and how it left a void inside him until he found a father in Silver? That was exceptionally relatable to my teenage self, and while I grew up on Disney movies and love a lot of them, Jim was the first character I ever RELATED to and I lived vicariously through Jim for that father-son bond built between him and Silver.

Man... I love this song. It resonates soo damn deeply with me. Having no father around growing up with just my mother. It feels a lot like it. I'm searching for a mentor, someone who is just there and teaches me the right way.

We where robbed of morph plushies 🙌 Also I want Jim’s solar surfer so bad. It’s so sad how this movie was done so dirty by the marketing, if they didn’t force it to flop because they wanted to cut 2D animation then Treasure Planet would’ve gotten the success it deserved, even with them trying to shove it into a dark hole and ignore this movie, the fact that it still has such a strong and genuine community 20 years later says all you need to know about this being a good movie, either way happy 20th anniversary!

@@Toseuteuu yeah but every kid had a stitch plushie and got the stitch happy meal toys 6 months before Lilo and Stitch was even in theaters and stayed in theaters for over 2 months, Treasure planet got a really crappy trailer a few weeks before it was in theaters and only got 3 weeks in theaters. Also like it went up against Harry Potter and 2 Disney sequels in theaters, if they wanted it to even have a chance they would’ve pushed the release back

Jeez, I just cried realizing that when he reaches out for his dad he was gone…not giving up on his selfish dream, but when he was falling into treasure planet…his REAL father figure reached for him instead of holding on to his dream…JEEZ MAN WHO CUT THE ONIONS?!?! ❤ 😢

One moment for me was this song and showing how Jim's dad just abondoned them it makes me sad how it shows someone how I can relate too mainly those who I care about just up and abondon me and my feelings but finding someone who fills those cracks in your heart makenit worth while I'm glad to have a movie where I can relate to the protagonist and to find someone in my life to be that role model *cried happily* god I love this movie I really need to find it one day

While I have not watched it, I do remember seeing previews of it. I remember as a kid, I was super interested of the whole movie. Sci-fi, fantasy adventure with beautiful 2D animation? Sign me up. Everything look so imaginative that I want to see how cool this movie can be. I would also love to see them put this world in Kingdom Hearts 4 or future games within the KH series. Again, haven't seen it but that does that count?

I first watched this back when the pandemic started. I've always heard of this movie but never actually watched it. So I gave it a try in quarantine and enjoyed it a lot and found it different from how Disney movies stories are and that made it better lol.

I cannot even begin to express how much I love this! I’m Still Here was literally my anthem throughout middle and high school, and so this song still resonates with me so much. A job well done with this tribute, 23jk. Matter of fact, I just finished watching it on Blu-ray. Still a good gem after 20 years. It's no secret that I love this movie. In fact, I put this right up there with Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Lion King and Aladdin as my top favorite Disney movie of all time. This was the movie that made Jim Hawkins one of my favorite Disney protagonists of all time. He's one of the few Disney male heroes without a love interest. It's no wonder fans (myself included to an extent) involve him in a lot of crossover ships. Plus, he's living proof that sometimes you don't have to be a prince to be a hero. All the other characters are great in their own way, including the loveable rogue know as John Silver. He's such a barrel of laughs but also very intimidating. Also, it's one of the few Disney movies that doesn't have any characters singing anything in the actual movie. The singing is done by John Rzeznik and BBMak. The movie may not have performed well at the box office but it still holds a place in the hearts of many a Disney fan. This movie is my ultimate treasure! 💎
