My own tip to not spend unnecessarily is to wait until the excitement of finding something new that I like and want (but not need) calms down, before buying. This means that instead of giving in to that initial ‘oooooh!’ feeling, I’ll agree to myself to come back to it (in an online shopping basket, or in real life at the shops). Maybe in an hour, a day, a week, a month, but often never. Once that impulse feeling has dissipated I often find that I can look at the item more objectively, and realise things that make it not a good purchase. Just last week I piled an online shopping basket full of Boxing Day sale items, but decided to come back to it later. When I returned to it yesterday I found I no longer actually wanted the items. I had just been caught up in that impulse buy feeling.

I like this tip a lot and also find that waiting before buying on impulse is really important. That way, when I do buy, I really appreciate the item. I really have to limit myself on home decor! 😂

I, too, am a big fan of Aldi! It really helps our goal of finding good quality food for less. My husband and I also achieved a big goal at the end of 2023 and are now mortgage free! It required spending less on ourselves and carefully allocating funds, but our gratitude about having the house paid in full is huge.
