Hi Karen, if your soap dough is ever crumbly just add a drop or two of glycerine and knead it in. It will turn into a beautiful workable dough!

When new fragrances come out......, I've switched to doing micro batches to test new fragrances. Nothing worse than surprises! 😂😂😂 I'll buy 4-5 fragrances. Make an 16 ounce batch and split it 4-5 cups and add fragrance. Pour each batch into 2 small cups one for soap dough, one for just general testing. I evaluate over 4 weeks. I learn so much by doing this. And keep good notes!!! You can weed out those really bad fragrances fast. Then you know to use the complicated one for bombs, shampoo bars, lotion, etc. 😊😊😊 It's worked really well! I do use your soap dough recipe. It works really well for me!!!❤❤❤

I saw a soap dough video on KZbin a couple years back where she poured the soap batter into a ziploc bag right away. As soon as she knew it wasn’t going to overheat, she sealed it up. She left it in the bags to saponify and cure until she needed the dough. It stayed soft because it was sealed up good.
@EdensSecret14 жыл бұрын
Yes I've done that before but I wanted to sue mine tomorrow, so I had to let it saponify somewhat x

Question about your soap recipe... Have you piped with this recipe before (flowers and that kind of thing) and if yes, does it ash at all? I find that with my recipe, it’s great for the soap loaf but it ashes so badly when I try to pipe flowers and stuff like that the day before a full pour.
@EdensSecret14 жыл бұрын
Hi I never get ash and never have but I can't say for sure you won't get ash because humidity also plays a part. Yes you can pipe flowers and every kind of piping with my recipe

@EdensSecret14 жыл бұрын
Yes try it, but it will need to saponify overnight thats why I put in in the mold rather than a bag, I think putting it in a bag of lidded plastic container, it will be much softer.

OMG your lye is 20 instead of 38 normal water...ie a water to lye ratio at 1.5 : 1 ..mebe thats why its crumbling?
@EdensSecret13 жыл бұрын
Yes I always work on very low water! 38 water is incredibly high and I don’t know a single soap maker who works with a 38. It’s the colour that made the crumbling because every jug of soap here is from the same batch the only change was the colour. Thanks so much for your comment. If you are learning to soap try low water it will make a huge difference to how your soap looks and won’t take as long to cure x

@@EdensSecret1 I always use 33 water when making soap dough. Then I mix in the mid 80s F. I don't use fragrance in my soap dough but I understand why you did. I have also found that certain mica's will crumble. Ziploc makes these little 4oz containers with a lid, so I line them with Saran Wrap then cover it and pop the lid on and leave it for 24-48 hours and voila perfect soap dough. I love it because they are reusable, easy to stack, and I can make as much or as little as I need. I just keep it in the container until I'm ready to use it. I'm just curious, do any of your customers actually use your soap? I mean other than a decoration? I've given away over 30 bars of soap for feed back purposes and NOONE will use it. My Mom won't try it because she says it will leave a "ring around the tub". My friends won't use it because they say, "it's to cute". My hubby and son LOVE it and say they've never felt cleaner. I kind of feel like I'm spinning my wheels at this point. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you for sharing all your beautiful creations and your wisdom! 💜💙💚💛❤
