There was something called Minsk Agreement as a solution but it was used bu Brits and Germans to give more time for better preparation of Ukraine to win the war. Unfortunatly the game didnt work and now Russians are entering New York. After extensive talks in Minsk, Belarus, the agreement was signed on 5 September 2014 by representatives of the Trilateral Contact Group and, without recognition of their status, by the then-leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This agreement followed multiple previous attempts to stop the fighting in the region and aimed to implement an immediate ceasefire.

@Skandish you are deliberately falsifying what the Ukrainian government did as their first decree in 2014, which was the removal of the Russian minority law that ensured many rights to the 11 million people in Ukraine that consider themselves ethnic Russians (you can easily google this). It was never forbidden to speak Russian, but it was removed as a state language (imagine it like Canada would remove French as state language) and Russian culture and history was started to be removed and re-written. That’s what caused Luhansk and Donetsk to hold independence elections which was won and as a response to this the Ukrainian army started to strike the Donbas (if you don’t believe me you can see videos from humans right watch from 2014 showing killed civilians in Donetsk in residential areas after shelling and air strike attacks). There are 5.5m people living in Russian controlled eastern Ukraine and 45,000 fought against the Ukrainian army for 8 years while the civilian population had to endure constant shelling - do you really believe they would have endured this if it wasn’t for a reason?

@@andryxa1p845 There are evacuations. The government wants those people out of the frontline. They are a burden. Ukraine has to allocate resources to provide food and fuel to those civilians, risking the lives of soldiers at the front line. They also cant just completely abandon them, as it would produce terrible images. So yeah those people refusing to leave help the russian side, whether thats their intention or not. And for that reason there are also evacuations provided to the people by military and other services.
