@paooul_dixon4 жыл бұрын
I agree but at the same time that worries me a bit about the training of the staff. If it's not one person in particular's job to make rice but everyone's as from what I'm guessing from him asking the co-worker to make it. Then shouldn't it be part of training for the restaurant to go over that?
@hannahwilliams35354 жыл бұрын
Honestly they could have filmed this as the resturant had just hired someone and were training them during the week. At most retail/restaurants jobs I've had or even interviewed at they talked about learning doing certain tasks that I may not do every day or even at all. But they trained me for it just in case. Just because it was good for the whole staff to know what to do if someone wasnt there or available that day.
@MissyxAkunai4 жыл бұрын
@@paooul_dixon I mean it also depends on your position, especially in a restaurant it can be flexible and you're always welcome to learn new positions. I worked part time in restaurants during uni as a hostess, but I learned how to buss tables, run food, etc to help out if we were ever understaffed or if I was bored (happens a lot when the restaurant gets filled up and everyone goes on the waiting list, there isn't much seating to do).

@@loading...8512 I wasn’t as sick as you. Hope you are okay now. Sorry you couldn’t attend your aunt’s funeral. I almost never call in sick or for any other reason. I think I called off work 4 times my entire time I’ve worked at my current job. Two of those times I was hospitalized for severe asthma attack. I’ve been at this job 7 years. So one time about 8 months ago(during COVID 19) I was feeling pretty bad, I get bad migraines and I was dizzy and felt nauseous, diarrhea, had a fever of 102, so I called in.There are 3 managers that COULD have come in to cover my shift or split between them somehow...but did they do that? Hell NO! I had to go into work anyway, possible COVID and all. It was not explicitly said out loud, but basically unless I tested positive for COVID, there was no one to cover my shift. I was so pissed. They said can I work half my shift and they will try to find someone to cover the other half? I said what’s the point? I might as well work the entire shift. I ALWAYS go in and cover for anyone calling off work, including managers who are scheduled to work the front desk, but they couldn’t make it work for me ONE effing time??!!?? AND when my main manager needed a day off literally last minute, like the day before, my schedule was changed without my knowledge and permission so SHE could have her precious day off(after she had already had 4 days off in a row). Funny how she needed another day off right after her 4 day requested vacation time off...hmmm. So I ended up working otherwise it would be on my work record as a “no call no show “. Schedule is “subject to change” based on this one manager’s personal needs. I worked 14 days straight. That was my ONE day off. I was finally tired of being a rug so I sent a scathing email to all the managers. It’s partly my fault of course for allowing myself to be walked all over. I fully take the blame for my own part of how they treat me. But yeah, I’ve only had maybe 2 or 3 managers who really cared about their employees. I’m 46 years old and I’ve been working since I was 19. That says a LOT about how people are treated in America. Not all ppl are bad but I haven’t had many good experiences with “management “ in general. Sorry for the long rant. Hope everyone has a good night!

Must be nice, here in the United States if you work in a restaurant you will be punished if you stay home while you are sick. They would rather a sick person show up and work.

I can’t draw a simple flower here Lol Giving tips is a no-go in Japan. Store owners pay regular and fair wages. The staff does not have to worry each month whether they can get enough tips to pay their bills. Their regular income allows them to calculate and plan ahead well. Tipping culture is a terribly unfair system. One person might work in an expensive restaurant, with few customers and little work but get very many tips, while someone at a cheaper place has to work a lot, serve many customers, is always friendly, has to clean up after messy children and their parents, deal with rude customers and gets far less tips despite working more. Tipping is also a sign of looking down on people. You, the mighty customer can afford to pity the server and leave them extra money. When people are in a group people might feel they all have to give the same amount of tips, even though some people in the group earn less. Managers should pay fair, regular amounts. Workers should not be dependent on tips. Do not tip in Japan.

a couple of keys to this man's success: attitude ("...i am very thankful for my company and what it does for me, my family...") and sense of mission ("...i am happy that i can share sushi with people, and make them happy..."). i, too, work for a japanese company and its goal is to bring "joy" to people through its products, and to be a company that society wants to exist. this mindset is quite prevalent within most japanese companies. there always exists a higher purpose than the one for which the company is known. THIS is the difference, and this is what continues to motivate me in my daily job. i love my job because the company provides unlimited opportunities to create joy for their employees and customers. sure, it is still work...but i hope you catch my drift. passion, joy, purpose - - qualities which are often missing at a place of employment.

When visiting Japan in 2019, I quickly learned that they take pride in their job, no matter what it is, and they strive to do it to perfection. I also learned, that Japanese sushi is so much better, than the sushi served in your average sushi restaurant in the US. My favorite place was the sushi restaurant, in the basement of the Kyoto Tower.. I want to make a trip back ASAP just to have their Bluefin Tuna Toro!!!
