I'm so so happy to have found your videos! I grew up in the west of Ireland, so in the gaeltacht on Achill Island, but I was never interested in the Irish language. It's only now, at 29 years old and when I'm living abroad in France where I miss Ireland and am disappointed that I didn't have good gaeigle. So I'm so so happy that I can practice my irish by listening to your videos. Have you any tips on how to get better at Irish? Baring in mind that I need to go over EVERYTHING (I can remember basic verbs etc but grammar was so taught so badly at my schools).

My advice would be to go over the main tenses (an aimsir chaite, an aimsir láithreach agus an aimsir fháistineach) as well as the grammar in general. And after that, when you've gotten a decent enough footing in the grammar move on to watching and reading as much Irish as possible preferably with the aid of a dictionary in order to pick up new words. I assume you've heard of TG4, they've got a great online player with tons of Irish language programming.

your videos are great. i’m from derry and i studied irish in school for 5 years, but i only know some basic phrases and words. the subtitles help a lot. i try to listen to what words i know and i know about 20-30 percent, so i’m on my way. what i find hard is that in english we structure sentences differently i’m used to saying things but in irish some words come before

Interesting fact for you, Oliver Cromwell was the person responsible for starting Albuquerque mass transit in 1900. Obviously not the same man, but same name. Also, Cromwell used my family castle, in Drimoleague, for target practice. One hundred years later, the wall fell down. Today it is the most expensive birdhouse in the world.

Is breá liom do chuid físeáin - táim ag foghlaim Gaeilge 3 nó 4 mí anois (well, agus 10 bhliana sa scoil freisin 🙈) agus fuairim fráisí mhaith as do físeáin. Bhí eagla orm nuair a chuala mé do accent agus dialect ach tá sé ceart go leor anois 😁
