24 Hours in Kaohsiung Taiwan The Unexpected Adventure

Seeing a new country without expectations is always the goal. Unfortunately, this time around maybe trying to gather some expectations could have helped in the planning. 🤣
Today we're in Kaohsiung in Taiwan trying to gather our first impressions in a raw and unfiltered way, but almost nothing went to plan!

Despite a lot of mishaps, I'm glad you still had such a great experience exploring Kaohsiung. I have not heard of the city before, but it looks really nice! I actually had a very similar beef noodle soup not too long ago when I went to a restaurant in Houston's Chinatown which was quite good (and a very similar price too). Awesome video!

Your tram ticket was dated 9 Nov and we were visiting (from Melbourne) a week later as part of our DIY around the island trip. You missed out on so much! Taiwan the Lucky Land government promo at the airport - it paid for around 20% of our 10 day holiday, which was already cheap. An EasyCard is so convenient for transport and FamilyMart. Cheap delicious food everywhere (even for us vegetarians). The scaffolding was a nasty surprise to us too but it's a nice little country. I hope you got into the groove later in your trip. If you are starving, every convenience store has hot baked sweet potatoes for like under 50 AUD cents.

It took us a lot longer to get into the groove than we like to admit! A similar day happened to us when we were in Taipei 😄 we certainly did discover the family marts though and that was a theme through Japannl for us also, so delicious and convenient!

It's often interesting to see Aussies try beef noodles in Taiwan, as very likely, both the beef & the flour that make the noodles, are from Australia. So when Autralian try beef noodles in Taiwan, they should somehow taste a bit of home、a mouthful of the Down Under. Welcome to Taiwan.

How are you counting countries - like are you using any official lists? This video sent me down a rabbit hole on whether places like Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are actually countries😂

Hahaha there are SO many rabbit holes and we've been down them all! To keep it simple, if we get a passport stamp from a place that has its own government and flag, we're counting it! There will always be some who claim Taiwan and Hongkong not be countries but they meet our criteria 😄🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

Things have changed When I left Taiwan in 99 check out was noon And check in was anytime a room was ready Someone copied the USA check out at 11 and check in at 4pm and made it even worse

@@JordanandEmily Those Chinese trolls like to trash other places-Taiwan is not the only target. When they say "villages," they mean low-class and underdeveloped. The trolls also like to call others "third-tier or lower-level cities." For example, they even think Singapore is underdeveloped as a big village in China. (Come on... Singapore?).. They even look down on the USA, Japan, Europe, Australia....etc. You will get used to it as you see more.
