what impresses me more than their sailing skills is the ability to make it work financially. Because these boats not only cost a similar amount of money as a house, but have a considerable upkeep cost on top of that (~10% of its value p.a.). So unless they are trust fund kids (probably they aren't), that's piles and piles of cash that have to come from somewhere...

There are many, many sailing VLOGS on youtube sailing many different types of boats. Everything from a family of five sailing on a couple million dollar yacht (Sailing Zatara) to a solo sailor sailing on a small (31 foot) boat with no motor (How To Sail Oceans). There's even a young couple sailing on a 50 year old boat that has been re-powered with an electric engine (Sailing Uma)The OGs of youtube sailing VLOGS are Sailing SV Delos, and they also have a child. In fact, there are a number of long time sailing VLOGers who have recently had children or are pregnant (Sailing Project Aticus, RAN Sailing, Sailing Soulianis). This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to sailing VLOGS. You will no doubt find a few who fit your style if you start looking.

Sailing is definitely hard work but there are a lot of solo sailors sailing around the world as we speak. All of them sail on smaller, simpler boats though. This boat is quite large and complicated for a full time solo sailor. In fact, there are several solo sailing VLOGs on youtube,, including White Spot Pirates, Patrick Laine, and my favorite solo sailing VLOG, How To Sail Oceans. That guy sails on a boat with no motor, so definitely playing on hard mode.

Great video! One of many concerns for me with full time sailing or yachting in the sea would be modern day Pirates., They are real, and a boat could easily be hijacked. It isn't worth your life.

Excellent video.My arms were hurting for you guys! I wld have been sooo sore from all that pulling nowadays.I have some experience sailing and it's actually quite harder than it looks.My late husband was a scuba Instructor and I was Divemaster and among our adventures we would go out with peeps who lived aboard boats in Marina del Rey (LA) and sail to Catalina (more rough on Pacific ocean than Caribbean!) and anchor there for weekend to do certifying dives for them. Always were accompanied by big sharks on night dives but they stayed away- didn't like noise of several divers together in full scuba gear and air bubbles- but we cld always see them. What a setting you are in.Beautiful water.

Everytime i watch kara and nate, i add something to my bucketlist. But the best thing is, they have inspired me not to just leave the long list as is until i am old but to cross them off whenever I get the chance.
