Wow! All I can say is wow! The night time 2 Jack Lake pics were "out of this world" beautiful. And who was the guy standing on the rock in the lake that late at night lol. But the day time one at Two Jack was absolutely gorgeous too. Mosquitos are no joke! We're in Houston, and you cannot do any yard work without a jillion bites.

Those Milky Way shots… WOw!! I’m here in Banff now staying right on Banff Ave, and have visited majority of the places you listed!! Stunning place! Came across this video prior to my trip! Love the shots you captured & content / organization of this video! You’re really good at explaining things! Great job! I’ve captured some great shots with my 14 pro. Which camera & lens are you using? (Heard you mentioning lenses but may have missed camera)… Also where do you recommend for sunrise? Mount NORQUAY is scenic & has a beautiful lookout point.
@simoncennals
@simoncennals Жыл бұрын
Amazing to hear! Glad the video has come in useful. Norquay look out is a nice view for sure and would work for sunrise if you get good clouds. It's a bit of a one composition wonder though! I actually visit it in my winter version of this video. Vermilion lakes is always a great spot for sunrise, good relections. Again Two Jack Lake is great if you get no to little wind! Or just Banff Avenue, lots of good choices!

@@simoncennals def lots of great choices!visited Vermillion Lake & Mt Norquay today during the day…. Was in awe from the lookout point at norquay & the wildlife that peeked out! Planning to catch sunrise tomorrow there🌅🤞🏼🙏🏼… and will try to catch the other spots too. Visited two Jack the other day during a tour and it was lots of cloudy overcast. Right now it’s shoulder season so weather has been fluctuating. And Was hoping to catch northern lights but solar storms not very active at this time. Have you spotted bears here?

@@RondasBlog sounds like a great plan! I've seen plenty of bears in my time, saw my first of this summer a few days ago on the Icefields Parkway. No telling when you might bump into one!

@@simoncennals how cool! Im praying to see one in the next 24 hours before flying out! I def don’t see them where I’m from. Got to see the city at sunrise. Mt Norquay was opposite of sunrise view… the train tracks had a gorgeous view. hiked up to surprise corner & bow valley lookout! Didn’t disappoint! What cameras did you use to capture your shots?
@simoncennals

@@RondasBlog I have a Canon R6 and 6D. I film on the R6 so often still shoot on my old 6D but the shots are most likely a mix of both. For the end result you probably couldn't tell but the R6 is much better for video and much better to use. Great auto focus and IBIS.

Great pics! I know it's subjective, but what would you say are good focal length to take on a trip to banff when looking back at ur shots...Im taking a 17-28, 28-75 lenses for full frame camera (hoping to not bring the 70-200 or 90mm bec if the weight lol)
@simoncennals
@simoncennals Жыл бұрын
Hey! I primarily shoot with my 16 - 35 F4 and 70 - 200 F4. A wide angle is very useful given the size and scale of a lot of mountains but a longer lens is also nice for wildlife or mountain peaks. As mine are both F4 lenses they aren't super heavy so weight isn't too much of an issue. In all honesty I have a bit of a dead spot between 35mm and 70mm in my lens set up at the moment so that's why I don't shoot in that focal length. There's always the option of cropping in or using panos/stitching to get a wider field of view too.

Good effort. You got some nice shots. I hope to get some good shots there in about a month. Hopefully the mosquitoes won't be as bad then. Any concern about bears when shooting at night around Two Jack, Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake, or Lake Louise?
@simoncennals
@simoncennals 2 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine it would be an issue, however always worth having bear spray on you! More so for Two Jack and Emerald than Lake Louise and Moraine.

what ND filter are you using? Great video btw
@simoncennals
@simoncennals Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, in general I don't use a lot of ND filters. I think in this video I used a 10 stop screw on ND a couple times for a longer exposure maybe even stacked with a polariser. They could be Hoya filters? Either way they aren't great and leave a colour cast I have to adjust in post, so I wouldn't recommend them. A lot of the time it's pretty cold in Canada so the less messing about with gloves off with intricate filters etc the better!
@cbre1971
@cbre1971 Жыл бұрын
@@simoncennals haha that is fair. I ordered a variable filter that I will play with but from videos I have seen today am not impressed with them. Nice video btw, I can't wait to see Calgary
@simoncennals
@simoncennals Жыл бұрын
@@cbre1971 well I purchased a cheap variable ND and used it once and then took it back as it had terrible vignetting. I've just got the Polarpro 6-9 stop variable ND but not had much chance to use it yet. All reviews so no to very little colour cast or vignetting even at 16mm so fingers crossed that works out. For what it cost it better be good!
