Hi there, which month did you take this video? I'm looking at going in December and im hoping its not that cold 😂
@simoncennals2 күн бұрын
This is January. It could easily be that cold in December though so come prepared. Recommend traveling with blankets and some food incase you do breakdown so you can stayed warm. There will be no gas stations open and no cell service between lake Louise and Jasper. And check road conditions before you go. Snow tires are a must!

How long will take the purple trail? there and back
@simoncennals2 күн бұрын
I'd say about 3 to 4 hours with plenty of stops. Longer if you do the ravine too! Lots of ways to shorten it and extend it though

6D has better colors. I'm not a Canon shooter but looking at a 6D or 5D II. I went mirrorless from a FF Nikon system and regretted changing. However, my Nikon D750 was incredible in all areas except colors. Blues and greens were awful and I spent a ton of time fixing them in post, which drove me away. Looking at 5D II and 6D, their colors are naturally more realistic than the Nikon. I'm also considering a D700 Nikon, but Canon colors are more punchy, despite the D700 having most other abilities better than the Canons. But output is what I'm after.

Incredible part of the world. Lucky you to have been there. Still on my bucket list. Which lenses did you find most useful?
@simoncennals9 күн бұрын
I probably mainly shot on my 16 to 35 with a fair few images also on my 70 to 200. There were a few times where I wished I just had a 24 to 70 though as I think that would have covered most bases. An amazing country though!

Hey! I'm planning a photography trip to Iceland with a friend, so this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for taking the time to put all this together. Amazing vid. One question, what time of the year did you go there? We're thinking around March to have a chance to still see the northern lights... but we fear the weather might be too harsh to go to certain places... any thoughts?
@simoncennals10 күн бұрын
Hey Martin, appreciate you watching. We were there at the start of June and there was an unusual winter storm that came through and shut parts of the ring road. March will be a great time for some photography on the south coast. You won't really be able to get inland as easily and the highlands areas don't open until mid June at the earliest really. In March I'd be prepared with a plan B in case weather does close roads. Part of the ring road goes though mountain passes so those can get snowed in. Just give yourself an extra day or two so you can wait things out or change plans a little! Hope that helps! I'd love to go back in winter!

Beautiful! If anyone is thinking of trying just be aware there are only a few weeks out of a year where this is possible. Just before the road opens...usually mid May and right after it closes in mid October. If you try too early or too late after that the road will be covered in snow.

I don't think the newer mirrorless bodies are designed to have "better" image quality. Image quality should, more or less, be the same logically. I think the only reason why one should consider switching or adding a mirrorless body is for practicality, mainly AF and speed. I never expected better image quality, but I like my R6 on top of my 6D ii which I love, because of it's Eye tracking and two cards slot.

The r6 has weird colors, I much prefer the 6d..I upgraded my r6 to the r6 mkii and the color rendition is almost as good as the 6d. The 6d really is a beast of a camera, if you don't need the advanced autofocus of the R bodies it's really a hard camera to beat.
