I remember when I was 17-19 I was homeless, one night it was storming and pouring down rain and I went in the woods to get some shelter with the forest canopy. I laid down on a hill to get a bit of sleep and after hours of trying to sleep I finally dozed off, and about an hour of sleeping I woke up to this thunderous bang that had the whole ground shaking. My heart was beating out of my chest it scared me so bad, and it being so dark I couldn't tell what it was or where it came from. When dawn started to break through the forest I seen it was a pine tree about 70 ft+ (21 meters) tall fell about 5-6 ft (1.5-2 meters) from where I was laying.

thank you, matt, for taking us on another epic adventure. not sure if you know this about coconut husks but we use them also like wood to burn and cook with. we also use them to create smoke because it helps to keep mosquitoes away. use the brown ones because they are the dry ones for fire and cooking. happy new year matt. you're a legend !

You’re the goat - from New Zealand I really appreciate your effort into your video’s especially since you’re doing it with an injured foot, I’ve learnt a lot and honestly you may save lives by teaching people basic things like how to make and keep a fire going during the rain. Anyway thanks brother keep strong 🙏🏽

Australians don't get foot injuries. That's why no one in Australia wears shoes. Their feet are impervious to everything. An Australian stepped on a Lego once and the Lego company considered stopping sales in Australia because the Legos were scared to be in the country after that incident.

Can you do other videos, it’s not a ‘challenge’ when this is what you do every day…. As an Aussie, I have learned that we know quite a bit about nature and it’s cycles, and as such your videos where you are doing what you do and explaining why we do it and how we do it, is stuff that we as Aussies take for granted that others want to learn also. Thank you for the last year of videos and I hope you and mak10 have a happy new year. May the muddies be plenty in 2023. Much love to all the field days family.
