I used to nurse my baby during the day but for the last feeding before bed time I would give my baby formula and keep pacifier next to her so she can grab it and get it on her own if she happened to wake up. Your baby is adorable!!! you are an incredible woman, mother, wife, and Doctor. I love that most doctors in general are so friendly and kind with their patients.

My daughter was just like that waking every couple of hours i went through lots of things binks, blankets, feeding, water, cosleeping, independent sleeping, she was a super mommas girl - I read an article that their smell is the most intense so I would wear a T-shirt on relaxed day (not all sweaty and gross) then when she would fuss in the night I’d give to her within 5 to 10 minutes she was back asleep. First time I tried it she did a 6 hour stretch of sleep in the night.

I came across your channel and so glad I clicked and watched. You are amazing!! I’m currently nursing my 6 month old and I WAS waking up as often as you. He would co-sleep with us and wake up frequently, and I became exhausted! Long story short when he was 4 months I officially put him in his crib (more rough on me than him I must say lol) and what a change!!! The first night he slept for 5 hours straight! Next few nights it averaged out. So, my suggestion is try the crib! I’m not a fan of the cry it out method, but whatever works for YOUR family.
@alazcano617 жыл бұрын
Oh!!! Another thing I did was a bedtime routine. Mine goes as follows: Start his routine around 6 pm, followed by a bath, go to his room, turn the mobile on (so he resonates the song playing with time to go to bed), put on diaper, clothes, feed him from both breasts (he’s 6 months but is a big boy. Already wearing 12-18 month clothes!!), he falls asleep by the second breast, but when I lay him in his crib he wakes up and goes right back to bed. Also, I know your already busy with studying and adding one more thing to your plate may not be helpful, but I suggest reading this book! I read it, took the tips, but didn’t actually follow the regime it had. I did what worked for our family. There is another KZbin family that followed the method and had their baby sleep training by 4 months! www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0757305601/metafilter-20/ref=nosim/ Sorry so long, but I know the struggle!!!! Your doing great mama!!
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Amanda we just put him in a crib and yes!! It's so much harder on me than him. We have a little baby cam that tells me he still wakes up a couple of times but he's able to put himself to sleep.
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Amanda thank you!! My guy is a little chunkster too. I give him both breast and now another 2-4 oz before bed. That was our problem, I don't think I was feeding him enough during the day because people always said "your breast should make enough for baby" so sad. I have another 24 hour video coming up and a 6 month update where routine is totally different. Haha there is no consistency in this house.
@alazcano617 жыл бұрын
Jenny Le Awesome!! Yeah ransitioning was bitter sweet, but mommy and daddy like having their bed back. Lol. We can always count on around 7 pm-8 am it’s us time! Although I’m still waking up about 3 times throughout the night to feed 😐 And girl, your schedule is wild so not having consistency is expected! Lol. It will all pay off in the end and Wyatt will be so proud of you. 😍 Keep up the hard work and I’m glad I’m a subscriber!!

I can relate with the night feed. Before my daughter would sleep and only wake 3 am and 6am. She's 5 months and it's now 12am, 3am and 7am. She refuses to self soothe. Oh my daughter has the same sleeper in the beginning of the vlog. Target!!

Hello Jenny, I really don't know how you manage to do everything while you have an infant. I study medicine in Europe, and I did an elective in US and the expectation the attending and residents had from me was crazy. I was working my ass off from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm, and the attendings were asking me to do presentations the next day, or extra 1 or 2 readings. To be honest it was the hardest time of my life. I didn't know how to manage time, how to work for 12 hours and come back home and prepare presentation for the next day. Can you share your experience of how do u manage your time. How can you be a full time doctor, plus a mom, and how do u manage to study????

Something a mother doesn't want to hear but sometimes you have to deal with some crying while they learn to self sooth. You may not really have too much of an issue with it if Dad can get him to use a pacifier and fall back asleep - then you know he can do it. One big step is making sure that when you don't want him demanding to nurse when the nursing is just to sooth and not nutrition then he need to not be in a spot that say 'nursing time'. In other words, if he is used to nursing in bed with you, you will need to keep him out of the bed unless you do want to nurse. I would first try seeing if dad can be that bridge and have him answer the call when he wakes up at 3AM, have him in a separate bed and room at that point and dad can go reassure him, give the pacifier stay a few minutes and leave. He may just associate it to being the same as time when you are at work and go back off to sleep with a problem. After doing that a bit, if it works, start being slower about going to him at AM and see if he will just go back to sleep. If he does not buy the Dad/pacifier routine and stays crying/fussy and demanding to nurse then you may have to work with letting him cry for short periods of time until he does learn to self sooth. There are many different routines for how long and when and what to do when you do attend him and what works well for a mom and feels the most comfortable does vary - so I would suggest reading a few and see which one you think sounds right to you. Learning to self sooth usually does come with some tears and in the long run its best if baby gets through it at an earlier then later stage. Once they no longer need night feeds is really the right time. The practice is much harder on mom and dad then it is on baby but in the long run a baby that gets a full night sleep is a happier baby and a mom and dad then can go back to full nights of sleep are better too!

Try giving a bottle of the pacifier doesn't work for you, or what I did is made my husband do it! My son also wanted me if I was around, but he would also take the bottle. Then the bottle turned into the pacifier. It's definitely a process and our son was a terrible sleeper(up 10x a night until 18 months), but sleeps wonderfully at 2 and in hindsight patience and trusting the process worked. I think the longer the nightfeeds(with breastfeeding) go on, the harder they are to break.
