I’ve been watching your tutorials and find you to be an excellent teacher. I noticed the intricate and beautiful items you wear in your videos and wonder if you’d considered showing your top and then a link to the pattern for the piece? Just a thought. Thanks for your helpful videos.

You're very welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words about my videos! My husband and I enjoy making them when we have the time (when we're not traveling and visiting our kids/grandkids)! That's a great idea about showing what I'm wearing and including a link to the pattern! Are you talking about the garments or the earrings or both? The top I'm wearing in this video is the "Lapa" pattern by Doris Chan. Unfortunately, the pattern isn't available any more. It was a free pattern on the Yarnspirations website (Caron Yarn, and now Red Heart Yarns, as well). I crocheted this top with Naturally Caron Spa yarn, which has been discontinued. If I were to make this top again, I would choose different yarn because that yarn gets very fuzzy and stretches almost too much! But it was a very fun top to make at the time because it's a top down pattern, which means you can try it on as you go to make sure it's going to fit well! You can see the pattern page on Ravelry here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lapa. I never made a project page for my top because I made it many, many years ago and I wasn't making project pages for everything I made back then. You can see the project pages from other crocheters, though. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I got the pattern for the snowflake earrings. I did stiffen them, though, so they'd lay nicely every time I wear them. Happy crocheting to you now and always!

@@TheCrochetArchitect I wonder if the crochet hook needs to be one or two sizes bigger than the size recommended for the yarn to prevent a stiff fabric.
@TheCrochetArchitect3 жыл бұрын
I think the hook size to use is a matter of how tight or loose you crochet. On my current mosaic crochet project, I'm using a size H (5mm) hook with Caron Simply Soft and Lion Brand Mandala yarn. That mosaic crochet project isn't stiff at all! Both yarns call for this size hook and I wouldn't want to go any bigger than this. In fact, I almost wish I had started with a smaller hook, like 4.5mm instead. It would be best to try out different size hooks with whatever yarn you use to see what you prefer. In this video, I'm using Red Heart Super Saver yarn (worsted weight #4), which is heavier than the other 2 yarns on my current project, and a size I (5.5mm) hook. I hope this helps!

I was looking for something like this when I started my first mosaic blanket 2 months ago. I found it just in time for starting my second one! I only have the first 2 rows done so no doubles yet, will be using this for the rest of it. Thank you very much.

I think this exactly what I’m looking for to prevent long chains across the back of a pattern I am doing! But I’m also guessing that the dc clusters might also eat a lot of yarn! I think I might use the dc clusters in every other stitch to still “lock” the loops (it’s going to be a baby blanket!)…
@TheCrochetArchitect3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that my video has helped you, Dulcy! I hope your baby blanket turns out great by using the dc cluster in every other stitch!
@francesowens86413 жыл бұрын
would that DC stitch work on overlay patterns to make them reversible also ?
@TheCrochetArchitect3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The reason it wouldn't work for Overlay Mosaic Crochet is because you don't skip stitches in Overlay like you do in Inset.
@TheCrochetArchitect3 жыл бұрын
I did a video for reversible Overlay Mosaic Crochet. You can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZy8eISBgqiMotU.

Is it possible to use this technique on overlay mosaic crochet?
@TheCrochetArchitect3 жыл бұрын
Lorraine, Unfortunately, this reversible technique is specific for Inset Mosaic Crochet, so it won't work for Overlay Mosaic Crochet. But keep watching my KZbin channel. I'll be coming out with more Mosaic Crochet videos, including a Reversible Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique very soon (hopefully within 1-2 weeks). Have you watched my Continuous Overlay Mosaic (COM) Crochet video? You can learn to do Overlay Mosaic Crochet without having ends on each row! Happy Mosaic Crocheting to you!

Working 2 chains helps the piece stay the proper width instead of getting too narrow.
