An introduction to INTERLAY Mosaic Crochet

If you have heard of overlay and inset mosaic crochet, this is something a little different: interlay mosaic crochet. it is a two-pass technique with no ends and no chains. Enjoy :)
I have added a photo on my FB page of how to insert the hook for the drop down stitches, as there have been many questions.

Thank you for showing this! I'd learned "basic" which I thought? was "overlay" mosaic crochet, was about to dive into an "interlock" mosaic pattern, but had never heard of "interlay," which I really like! Now I'm confused, as I also see "inset" on the internet, which seemed like there were FOUR mosaic types, but now I'm wondering if the term is slightly different in the US and England?

Very interesting! Are you meant to work so tightly and with such a large hook like you're using, or was that just what you had handy? Also, how do color changes work and carrying yarn? Also, how do the charts work? How many times do you crochet the same row? And do you always make a row of single crochet on the back? How often do you switch colors? So many questions. Do you have a full tutorial here or written somewhere that I could access?? I'm only familiar with overlay.

Its not the first time he has done that for me with a larger hook i used for a rug i made. Mmm, mabe i'll just do a thick heavy blanket instead with this method?!! Do you have other patterns? Hiya, to start the project, just work a chain of the required length then 2 rows UK dc (US sc) in each colour. The interlay technique starts at row 3 of the chart.

I have posted a photo on my FaceBook page. You are right: front post would usually go through the work. But in mosaic crochet, the dds sit on the surface, so doing a front post stitch in mosaic would not go through the work.

After posting in my FB group, some of the wise members have named the stitch. It is a type of front post stitch that is placed.... I have forgotten already 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, there is a photo on my page ☺️

Just by renaming a couple of already existing techniques doesn't make it yours to claim as new...sorry but this is not new and you claiming that you googled but couldn't find anything similar so you "developed" your own technique is, well lack of searching skills??? I found tutorials of this so called new technique dated several years old...Sorry, but I don't think it's very fair to crochet designers, or tutorials makers out there that put lots of time and effort in making beautiful things to just run of with their makings and just renaming it and claiming it your own. ©️

I do know why you are going off like this but you actually just described exactly how a cute little design is made. Interlocking is simply filet crochet with a cute name. Mosiac crochet is a combo of 2 stitches in a row to make a design. All patterns are just stitches put together.
