I like that you show us practical ways to open up an otherwise tough lock. I stay away from dimple locks just for the fact that I don't have the tools. They can be expensive and not really worth the cost for an "every once in a while" tool. Incredible picking as usual. Thanks!

When LPL takes 1:15 from tension to open, you know it's a good lock. Just ordered a 75IB/40 for my locker at work and debating a 20/70 for my storage room.

So you have a big problem with people picking your locks?
@kd5nrh3 жыл бұрын
@@noahway13 company I used to work security for has a Master 3 series fetish. Picking is way too nice a word for it. Even though the doorknobs are decent, installation sucks to the point most can be loided faster than using the key. Sad when even a Medeco is so easily bypassed.

Finding it crazy how KZbin is recommending older and older LPL videos. It goes to show how every great KZbin content creator had their start. It’s even crazier seeing how very little views this has after 6 years.

I'm going to "unlock" every old LPL video. Gotta unlock 'em all. 🔓

Thanks for your comments toward "needs of specialized tools". A good chunk of times if you understand the concept of the device you can get creative. Don't defeat yourself before you have started. I don't come across very many dimple locks. One of the few times was on a old gun ball machine. No keys and had to replace the lock. Drill it or pick it was the options. So I tried to pick it and tada, I got it open with a half diamond.

Glad you like it... Good advice about "don't defeating yourself before starting." So true. If you think that you can't open something, then you are right.

Great job picking. Thanks for the advice . I have been avoiding dimple locks for this very reason but will give them a try!

I now ordered this marine version (75IB) of the 75/50 additionally, after I learned you can shim the shackle on the brass version of this otherwise splendid ABUS. That's a padlock I consider using for my storage unit within the (access controlled) storage house, and I don't want it shimmed.

Very cool tutorial. I never thought about using a hook for dimps. I was using a half diamond to practice dimping up until recently. I'll have to try a hook though now....
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The half diamond can work very well... many people use that for improvised dimple picking and swear by it. I should have been more clear about this in the video, but I just used the short hook because it's the single most common pick out there. I did not mean to suggest that it was good for picking dimples.
@NoctisMotus8 жыл бұрын
You make a fine point. I'd been avoiding it until I made a pick for it. Maybe I will just hunt for a cheap dimple lock and go for it. Thanks kindly for the wake up call. :)

The Abus EC75 is a pretty nice pick. Very impressive that you can do it with a normal hook :). I have the 75/30 which was my first dimple pick at all ;). Very hard to fit anything in the keyway.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but to clarify, this is not the EC75 core... it is the considerably larger full size EC core. The 75/40 w/ec75 was one of my first dimple locks (and one of my first videos) and yes, that keyway is VERY tight. I have 2 videos of picking the EC75... look for the abus 75/40, and the 25/70 if you are interested.
@redcatimaging8 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry that I missed that. Did only know that the /50 has 6 pins and the /30 5. Good to know :). As I said, the 75/30 was my first dimple lock and I picked it some months ago with with a tiny flag in my redesigned 3D PocketPick (similar to the ones from Harley Ross...got later in contact with him, very nice guy :) ). I will definitly watch your vid on the 75/40. Keep up your nice work, always very impressive :).

The "best" out of the box picks that I know of are from SpooXe... then had finish Chinese goso picks. But SpooXe are very expensive, so if you have the time and want to save money, just get the Goso's and work them yourself. Good luck.

Thank you I was thinking of getting the gosh pics. They are the only ones I can find locally here in Australia.

Very good demonstration. Don't you fear that the pick might get distortions from the unusual stress?
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I backed off the tension for that reason. Also, the hook feels considerably stronger than the souber dimple picks which some people seem to love (though I've said many times in the past that they are far too flimsy for my liking).

I also love the sparrows hooks - great quality picks.

I didn't like them when I first started, but as I become more experienced, I'm growing to appreciate their picks more. I still wish they had hard plastic handles (like Peterson and SO Max), but the pick profiles are very nice.

I felt the same way before I started on them... This is actually very close to my first dimple lock, an Abus D6... then I moved to a D10, and my next dimple lock was a MTL interactive. Just give it a try and I suspect it will be easier than you think.

TLPL. I'm somewhat newer to lock picking, but I've picked all sorts of conventional locks. I bought the black flag set from Sparrows per your recommendation and it seems like a good set of dimple picks. That said, I've really been struggling to pick this lock, and I haven't been able to even pick it once. Are the black flag picks still too thick for this narrow restricted keyway? Do you have any advice on tension or help with picking this lock? I can't seem to get it! I really appreciate any help you could give.

not as tricky as you think they are not... Ummm... As for varying the pick angle. I was getting caught up on the warding. Since I was in the front, I realized that picking from the side wasn't needed, so I moved over.
