Great video and series for the storm shelter! Really appreciate the details you provide. I do want to recommend some kind of "pull-up bar" on the inside or outside to help you exit the emergency exit as it might be easier to exit the escape hatch feet first, or pulling yourself out with a handle on the outside. I guess try to exit a window of that size that is vertical, rather than showing how you would exit it while standing up on the ground to see what might aid your escape in a real world scenario. I know you fit the hole, but with gravity it might help to have some help on entrance/exit to support your body weight.

My son said dad this pick is broken. Maybe I should get a new one. I told him it isn’t broken. It is well used. Someday you will think about what it took for your Grandfather and myself to wear that blade. Trust me. It will be a good memory. Always enjoy your channel Andrew....

Calling the game due to rain? It was inside work Coach!! haha j/k Anxious to see how you outfit the interior with fold down beds, small table(s), any 12 VDC lighting planned? Have you closed the main door and looked at you phone to see if you still have sufficient bars on the signal meter? Which corner of the shelter will you put the Kegerator?? :-)
@TKCL4 жыл бұрын
Have not closed the door all the way, but do still have cell signal inside. And hey, I'm not about working inside with the door closed until I get working ventilation, rain or not🙄. No 12 volt lighting planned, but will have battery operated push lights and maybe a motion light. My dewalt set has a battery operated fan and light I'll stash inside for hurricanes. Planning a couple of basic shelves and a futon that folds into a big enough bed for Tiffany and I to take a nap if in there for hours during a hurricane. Kegerator sounds awesome, but then I'd have to pee every 15 minutes, that wouldn't work lol.

@@TKCL plow is right, they are amazing! We used them to pound in 6 inch spikes into hardwood, can't remember what kind of wood it was, but it was hard as a rock. Do you happen to know if you can downsize this design (e.g. 4'x6') and still keep the structural integrity? Does it have to be square? I'd like to build this in my 2.5 car garage but only have a 4x6 footprint available.

16 anchors are overkill?!? You've built this fortress above ground on a concrete slab. Well built and impressive, but looking at recent videos of whole homes being moved off their foundations, into the street, your Achilles heel with your shelter is how well, and how long those anchors hold.
@TKCL2 жыл бұрын
You have also been watching content from states away. Florida very rarely sees anything over a ef1, maybe a ef2 as a common tornado. While intense, not the monsters you see on TV. With that said, yes the anchors might be overkill for my unique situation, but it's always better to have too much and not need it.

It's supposedly rated for ef5. I trust it, but I don't ef5 trust it lol. For our ef0 and 1 tornados it's shouldn't budge. It's got the best chance of getting hit by a hurricane than anything else. We will live stream the fist one that hits us
