Thank you for placing a recording of my grandfather's contribution. I never met Wolf/Władysław Lidauer because he died in WWII, but the family is thrilled that you are keeping his work alive. Dan Lidawer

Very beautiful, Correctly stated Adam Aston also performed it in Hebrew (in Israel under the name Ben Levi). and a personal note related to your introduction: My father's brother, Felix Bloch הי"ד was one of the murdered in Katyń by the NKWD, He was an officer in the Polish cavalery, and left no one after him.

@@robertvoykovic9337 Thank you very much for your kind words. In relation to your comment - Some years back, someone informed me that he was memorialized on a certain polish army II WW internet site. I have only a single photo of him in cavalery uniform patting his horse (probably from around vilno).

Hi Grzegorz - this a famous Tango classic - when Fogg sings it - he alters the lyrics a bit - namely - I believe - Fogg sings - "Za twoja gre - dam serce me" rather than "Za twoja gre - dam zycie me" - the way Aston does it.

Hi D, However - and symptomatic for both nations, who express their historical rights to the city - the unclear Polish ethymology of Bydgoszcz is "a place governed by Bidgost" (a mythical name of someone, who could have founded the town) while German "Bromberg" simply means a "blackberry hill".

What is your source of information? Similar to the Russians initial denial of th massacre of Polish intelligentsia in the Katyn forest, how can you be assured that the Nazis did not kill the German occupants of Bromberg/Bydgoszcz? You also claim it was Prussian and yet also German. Was it German, Prussian or Polish? Finally, how can you compare 2.5 million massacred Poles with hundreds of massacred Germans? The Second World War was a complete disgrace and an insult to humanity.

Poles also massacred hundreds of ethnic Germans in late August and early September 1939 so it wasn't just Germans who perpetrated atrocities, something Polish nationalists should keep in mind here.
@benowacek5823
@benowacek5823 4 жыл бұрын
It started in September 4th. Those "poor people" were smuggled weapons from the Reich and started to shoot to Poles from roofs, attics and church towers. Lucky them that most of them were prisoned not killed. Why did they act diversant and wanted to be "heroes" shooting from hidden places? No wonder crowd got angry.

Poland should never have been given German territory from Posen and West Prussia to begin with.
@Interlocutor67
@Interlocutor67 4 жыл бұрын
Very few of Poland's neighbors felt sorry for it in September 1939. Pilsudski bit off more than he could chew by including millions of Ukrainians, Germans, Lithuanianins, Belarussians, in the postwar Polish state.
@benowacek5823
@benowacek5823 4 жыл бұрын
Going this way the Prussia should never have taken Polish Crown territories after 1795 like Poznań, Kuiavia and Gdańsk. Poznań was first capital of Poland since 996 A.D. You can say that city like Stettin was German for hundreds years but those you mentioned were occupied for 123 years...Please search encyclopedies and read full history indtead of hearing one ear rumours.

No Sir. It was Polish city since 1000-1795 and under Prussian rule from 1795-1918....Only 125 years. Why do you people don't search the history and spread false thingas?

Bydgoszcz was Polish crown city at least since Casmirus and went to German/Prussian rule due to partitions of Poland. School in the west must be so lame.

No, it was a German city populated by Germans.
@benowacek5823
@benowacek5823 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it was since 1795 as the Prussian King built in the city the railway to East Prussia and massively settled city by the Germans. Before 1795 the big majority were Poles in the city and after 1918 only 20% of city citizens were Germans. My greatgrandafthers lived here so I know. Check the population census of the city and it's history... it doesn't pain. Until 1795 it was a Polish Crown city with city walls and a castle visited by Polish Kings. What are you talking about???? Even before 1918 beside the center settled by Germans all neighbourhoods around like Schwedenkoe or Wilczak or Okole were settled by Poles!
