Pate’s perspective about the value of culture and development is definitely the right one, but there are two issues with applying it to this situation. First, LSU didn’t choose not to pursue D. Williams because of the greater good, they went for him (NIL and all) and just lost. Second, it implies that OU doesn’t prioritize culture and development. Anyone who pays attention to BV and the program he’s building knows that’s wrong.
@stinkasscat6 ай бұрын
You are right. When Pate said, "Georgia doesn't win every bidding war." That right there was admitting that this bum at LSU was having a hissy fit. D Williams never was going anywhere but OU after his visit, and it had nothing to do with NIL. Pate drank the Kool aid on this one. COME ON PATE! TEXAS HAD A LAMBORGHINI PARKED OUT FRONT FOR D WILLIAMS VISIT. AND YOU ARE GONNA SIT HERE AND SAY HE DOESNT DO THAT EITHER. WAKE UP!!! THEY ARE LYING STRAIGHT TO YOUR FACE. Funny thing is all of Twitter was calling Oklahoma "brokelohoma " and now all of a sudden they overpaid for a player according to same clowns.

What Brian Kelley said I don’t disagree with however it does come across as being a little butthurt. Just about every time a school misses out on a transfer or recruit the fan base and coach always cry not gonna overpay him blah blah blah. It’s just a tired excuse because he chose to go to Oklahoma over LSU doesn’t mean he exclusively went there because the money. Was it a contributing factor? Mostly likely yes but choosing OU over LSU isn’t crazy. If the kid would’ve chose Tulane over LSU I’d see where he’s coming from.

If bennett was 3 inches taller at 6'2 based on his combine measure height at 5'11, this wouldn't be an argument. People hate on Bennett because of his height. Dude is an athlete, and plays ice cold with next play mentality. The first Natty Bennett won, he did so getting no spring or fall reps coming in after JT daniels was injured, and did so using his raw athleticism. in his second season as a starter having all of the #1 reps you saw a huge improvement in his consistency and deep field threat accuracy.

Funny how you and everyone else has forgotten that Riley likely had a deal with USC the week of bedlem and he didn't even try to win that game before he was on a pane to So Cal. (I am glad he is out there where he will be fired after this year) He bails the next morning and he already had a deal with the future Heisman QB and #1 2024 draft pick along with OU's 5 star WR and the backup 5 star QB also hit the portal to South Carolina which left OU's QB room empty along with 8 or more mostly 4 star kids also hit the portal. We could have kept Dillion Gabriel around but Venabels had already promised Jackson Arnold so Venables told Gabriel to go get paid. Venables is a clone of Dabo. He hates the portal. And go look how many kids OU has lost to Missouri's Texas and Texas A&M bagman? This may be the first kid OU has really met because we really needed him, So if you are suggesting OU compromised it's culture.. This was suppose to be NAME IMAGE AND LIKENESS.. Kids getting contracts for products or services.. But when it was really unveiled it's turned into who wants to pay and who don't..

Come on now Pate. LSU is paying just like everybody else. And yes, that includes.. gasp.. Georgia, Ohio St and Nick Saban's Alabama. LSU has the #1 high school players committed at QB, RB & WR. Those guys didn't leave the kinda on the table that's being implied, just to play for Mr "doing it the right way" Brian Kelly. LSU invested in its future instead of transfer players asking for more than they're worth. Some guys aren't worth their asking price.
@sc100ott6 ай бұрын
“Michigan State losing players in the portal is a theme”. Well, kinda sorta. By my count, they lost 5-6 projected starters, and they picked up 5-6 projected starters. Yes, it’s tough losing the 2 starting interior DL, but they did pick up arguably the best QB of the off-season portal, and TE, Center, and CB which were near the top of their position groups. It’s not unusual to have quite a lot of turnover with a coaching change (ask Alabama & Washington), and most of MSU’s portal losses were kids who weren’t going to be in the 2-deep.

Speaking of putting things in context , let's talk about Texas. Each year in May the Texas hype machine starts up and this year will be much worse. Let's look at last season . A good win in Week one but it was not a typical Bama team. If they played the game in Week 8 we all know it's a different outcome. The next test came against an Oklahoma team they beat 49 - 0 the previous year. Oklahoma looked faster, stronger and hungrier than Texas did. Then Texas made it to the playoffs. While Texas was busy telling everyone they are back (back from what, mediocrity?) Washington was busy putting a much better game plan in place and they to looked stronger. Faster and hungrier. It was a nice season but we have seen Texas fold under the pressure year after year for well over a decade. Put together 2 or 3 good seasons then we will discuss if you're back or just arriving
