I agree… NO DEFENSE should be expected to play as much as the “D” had too play in 2024. BAMA’s offense was 3 - out way too much. Unable to drive the ball and consume clock. Reliance on the big play nearly exclusively… bad scheme. I don’t blame Milroe exclusively as some folks are. I’m not sure anyone can explain the Jekyll and Hyde, inconsistent, feast or famine performance. Maybe at the next level Jaylen will continue to grow. I wish the best for him. The “O” Line (mostly at Tackle) weren’t very good. You can choose to argue my opinion is wrong if you want to… you will be wrong… The “Time of Possession” in every game they lost is skewed to the opposition’s advantage. Big advantage! Check it out… the data is available. Need to see now if DeBore can Coach or not. Hope Grubb will come help him.

I am a life long bama fan and I have to say we are the most spoiled, irrational, unrealistic fan base in America. 9-4 is a good start to the Deboer era. He was not going to go undefeated and win a title in year one. Bama will be fine. Deboer will be fine. But the “dynasty” was done a long time ago. There will be no more dynasties the way college football is currently constructed. It’s year one, not year four. Relax.

In my personally most humble opinion Bama would’ve caught a lot less heat from cfb fans if Deboer put Simpson in after half against Michigan. I agree with everything you are saying my brother…. He made us one dimensional and our OC didn’t help him either with the shitty play calling. But I can also blame it on Milroe too because he is the head of that offense and if the OC calls a play that he knows won’t work by the way the D is lined up Milroe could have used an audible that could work but I don’t think he ever did that and I saw way too many wide receivers running free down the field while Milroe is trying to play the hero and getting stuffed. And so many RPO’s where he should have handed the ball off and he kept it. Milroe is a primadonna. Him and the OC alone are the reason we have seen so many transfer from the offense.

Going into the season I expected 8-4 at worst and 10-2 at best (at the end of the regular season) so realistically I am fine with how the season went. Losing to Michigan was rough but I think it perfectly sums up how QB was the #1 issue of the last two years. Jalen Milroe (love him as a person) is just not a championship caliber QB even if he has played really well at times. We have two solid QBs that are plenty capable of winning that starting position next year and taking the offense to the next level, and the defense should be just as solid as they were the last half of this year as long as nothing crazy happens lol

Not saying there wasn't room for improvement nor will I say it was like one of sabans natty teams but I saw over all improvement in areas most fans wouldn't pay attention to. He let it be what it was because he knew it was feast or famine with milroe. Lot of good insight. College football has changed and the days of dominance by any one program are a thing of the past. If you can complete for a Championship once or twice every five years will be amazing moving forward. The thing that was so hard for Bama fans to stomach this year is just how bad they looked against inferior teams. Saban always dominate trams with lesser talent. Deboar will need to be able to do the same moving forward or he may not make it past year 2.

In regards to NIL, what are your thought on there being a individuals annual salary cap on players designated as transfers that is far lower than the high school commitment annual salary cap to try and deter people from transferring after a year just for more money

How was Saban struggling at the end? In 2020 he won a natty, in 2021 they played in the natty, in 2022 they finished 5th, and in 2023 they lost in the playoffs. Seems like he was doing just fine.

I thought sunshine pumpers were just Auburn fans until reading the comments. Make all the excuses you want for Deboer but he failed this season. First loss to Vandy since 1984, this is the same Vandy team who lost to Georgia Southern. Favored by 21 over Oklahoma and lost by 21, 0 TDs. It has been a long time since any of us watched an Alabama team get dominated from beginning to end in a game and never had an answer, even the Clemson championship we started to come back and was competitive. Didn’t even show up against a Michigan team that was playing as many backups as starters. You blame a lot on Milroe in the video, between Oklahoma, Auburn and the first half of Michigan Milroe accounted for 14 turnovers just in the last 3 games in the season and Deboer never benched him? Why not play Simpson in the 2nd half of Michigan? At least show us that you’re even paying attention and looking forward to the future. Take off your crimson colored glasses there were plenty of signs this season that exposed Deboer. I think he’s in over his head, this is not Fresno State

While I agree with most of what Josh says, there were some very troubling things I saw this past season from the coaching staff... #1 - they were penalised for having two players on the field that share the same number (Vandy game) - worst (most boneheaded, most preventable) mistake I've seen by a coaching staff in a long time. #2 - Nick Sheridan's play calling was very confusing, almost as though he had no idea what he was doing. Not running the ball with RB's, too many RPO where Milroe kept the ball. #3 - Vandy game - Malachi Moore's tantrum in the closing minute, woud not leave the field even though the coaches were calling him in, unsportsmanlike for kicking the ball before the snap... (not the only example of this kind of embarassing, selfish and unsportsmanlike behaviour from Bama players this past year). The Deboer coaches were not in control, the inmates were running the asylum. #3 the Defense got turned around by season's end and were much better, but in the games around the Georgia game, they were too predicatble and did not disguise coverage at all. #4 - Not putting Simpson in vs Michigan -- Milroe stunk up the joint in the first quarter, yet he played all game for some strange reason (same for Oklahoma loss). Simpson deserved a shot, even if to stablise the ship after Milroe's 3 turnovers in 4 plays. (admittedly the weather played a role, but IMO Milroe is victim to his emotions -- both good and bad, things spiral down out of control or spiral up to great achievements.)

The crazy part is that Bama beat all of the tough teams on their schedule (except Tennessee) and their blunders came against the teams that weren't as great. He's proven he can win the big games at Bama (undefeated at home)...just needs to win the winnable games.

I love this Josh and have faith in Kalen. But, the only thing I'll say is that while I had faith in Milroe and think he should've been the starter, there were times he should've been benched too. Flat out. Also, most Bama fans came into the year hating Jalen Milroe, so playing him was coaches way not the fans or admins way. However to your point,i believe he was thankful of Jalen for staying and felt it wouldn't be right to bench his captain. Which is why coach Saban never named captains until after the season

I was not worried about Deboer until the Michigan game. Milroe had nine lives, and he sure ran out of them in the 1st quarter of the Michigan game. His inability to bench him this season was truly frustrating and worrying because Milroe fucking sucked and he costed us a playoff birth. Deboer needs to grow a damn backbone bc as of now I think he is incredibly soft. His postgame presser of the Michigan game was also very underwhelming. There is no excuse for losing to that god awful Michigan team and he was way too casual about it. Figure it tf out coach I can't believe I paid money to watch that miserable offensive performance.

Most people predicted a 9 or 10 win season in his first year and thats exactly what happened. No big surprise. What makes it seem worse is the vandy loss. You have to keep in mind vandy was not your typical vandy this year. They was pretty decent. They also beat other sec teams and took texas to the wire- 27-24 if i remember right. if they recover the onside kick they may very well have beaten texas too. So this was pretty much expected year one. I believe year 2 will speak volumes on what to expect under deboer.

If we're entering into a time when the head coach isn't the alpha who can sent a player home on a whim, the program is no longer under his control. Using terms like "held hostage" to explain a relationship between a player and a coach is not what you'd want to hear......and that's not the first time I've heard that very same descriptor used regarding DeBoer and Milroe (and what we've heard are the "Cancer 5").

Ryan Grubb coming will help A LOT! IF coach decides to go after him. In any case, Bama will look better next year as everyone is getting used to this "free agency" format. Each team will look different year to year. I would rather have 2 or 3 stars that can be developed than 5 stars who are only worried about money (theres no fun in that). Im all for players getting paid, but Im also for the ability to do whats necessary by universities. Maybe someone can implement a draft like the NFL, and cut down on a lot of this nonsense, thats basically what college football is now, the minor league of NFL. Impose a draft and eliminate college transfers.

What ended up happening was no longer could the SEC (mainly Alabama) hog up all the talent. Now these other schools (Michigan, Norte Dame, etc) with deep pockets can come in and recruit these players and pay more than Alabama. Also the new playoff format spreads the wealth. Now everybody has a shot. Didn't see it this year, but give it a couple of years. Teams, like Arizona State, are going to be competing regularly.

It’s not that we lost four games. It’s how we lost, and who we lost to, as well as the clear lack of preparation, lack of discipline, and accountability. Our team did not grow and get better throughout the year, We got worse. It’s clear this coaching staff is not the authority in the building, These kids are. When players are talking about they need to get to meetings on time and there’s no accountability for those actions that’s on the coaching staff when your quarterback and almost everybody else on the team gets worse than they were last year that’s on the coaching staff when you can’t adjust to what a team is doing well against you that’s the coaching staff. When you don’t pull the quarterback when he’s thrown four interceptions and had six turnovers that’s the coaching staff. It’s poor coaching it’s not ridiculous expectations there’s a standard at Alabama and it’s not being met by the coaching staff or the players because of the coaching staff in my opinion
