You are the first commentator to give Oregon credit and not make it sound like OSU gave them the win. All the homers talk about is their DC not sealing the edge and adjusting the scheme. But maybe, just maybe, Oregon was the better team and opened the edge and adjusted to everything OSU was giving them. That’s what great teams do. Good analysis!
@operationreciprocity84463 жыл бұрын
Is it not as easy to argue that both Ducks games were essentially decided by a single play? Against Fresno St- Fumble in the 4th while they were up and had the ball? And the interception at the end of the game against Ohio St? The win against the latter is not what I would define as an overwhelming or decisive win (but clearly means a lot to Duck fans because of the pure propaganda of beating a #3 team. And a team they were 0-9 against all time) Is this not the classic "Any given Sunday" game?

@@operationreciprocity8446 I’m not sure what you arguing… that Oregon isn’t very good because they had coin flip plays go their way? What team doesn’t need a little luck when squaring off against another quality opponent? But, let’s be clear: NO ONE expected Oregon to win this game. Not even the analysts that were giving Oregon a slim chance to “make a statement”. Here’s what really happened. Oregon showed up and was the better team. They controlled the first 3 quarters of the game, in every aspect. It wasn’t until the D line started getting gassed and giving Stroud time that OSU made it interesting. This was not a game defined by a single play. It was a game of attrition and strategy. And Oregon had the upper hand.

I'll give the Ducks the "credit" as you say, when they prove something. The only thing they've proven is that they beat a team at the beginning of the season. Ehh, running the same play over and over if its working has been around since the beginning of Chip Kellys era. Cristobal however worries me. How many times has Oregon ran the ball up the middle just to go 3 and out 3-4 series in a row because the lack of adjustments? The game against tOSU was spectacular, it felt like Cristobal finally let go of control a little bit and trusted his OC. We ran the same plays on saturday because they worked with great reward, but until we find a team that puts a stop to our offense, I dont think we will truly know where we are at in terms of progressing our playcalling skills.
