James Franklin reminds me of Mark Richt. A coach good enough to win majority of the games, but not good enough to win the big games when it counts. Georgia had success with a replacement and Penn State can as well. Franklin has reached his ceiling.

Drew Allar is good He's just not the right fit for Penn State and their scheme as well as their culture. He's a spread finesse passer with a gritty style team. Dead wrong. Franklin is mediocre. What would you say about a Texas coach that consistently is third in the Big 12? Or a Bama coach being the 3rd or 4th best in the SEC every year? PSU has a huge recruiting ground, great facilities, CASH, a great fanbase and an incredible defense. And what do we get for that? Nothing. All you need to know about Franklin is the year PSU won the Big Ten and beat OSU - OSU went to the playoffs - and Franklin meekly sat at the press conference and said blah blah blah. Saban would have torn the NCAA a new one. Smart would have had the entire state of Georgia ready to march to NCAA headquarters. Franklin? Blah blah blah. And that is what we have. Blah Blah Blah

If you fire JF, The chances of hiring a coach that will make PSU elite are slim, very slim. The chance that you hire a coach that will make us worse are VERY likely. Period. It's not arguable. Penn State fans are crazy for wanting to fire Franklin. Ohio State and especially Michigan are losing a ton of talent. Washington, USC, and Oregon will have to adjust to the superior depth of offensive and defensive lineman. They will not have to play Michigan and Ohio State every year and the playoff is expanding to 12 teams. 10-2 in the B1G will get you to the playoffs every year. Drew Aller is also a true sophomore and will PROBABLY be better next year. Fire Franklin now and Penn State will be the next Nebraska.

I just find this excuse of Franklin’s favorability in those games to be ridiculous. The prediction models are based off his own team’s performances and stats. So, the only way to become the favorite in those matchups is to change those stat metrics for the algorithms. It’s like saying “Ehh, James Franklin lost because the stats from his own team vs the competition said he would.” It’s a lame excuse and reasoning. But this narrative has essentially been heavily propagated by the sports analysts since the lost to Ohio State this season, and unwitting fans are repeating this nonsense.

Failing to get the 2 points meant the game was over because you left it a 2 possession game, when you could have taken the free point and made it a 1 possession game. Nevermind stupidly going for 2 in the first half when there was no reason to do so. Also, nevermind going for it on 4th down from your own 30, when you had over 4 minutes left and 2 time outs. Someguy: Forget about Urban. That man is long gone as a football coach. Even in the slight chance that he would want to get back into coaching…… I would not want him to coach my team if I was the AD. No way. The Man would leave after one season maybe two seasons at most. Look at Ohio State they’ve not won a Natty since he left them high and dry. He abandoned them just like he abandoned Florida. Florida has been absolutely garbage since he left them.

@@GDoggy-em2xc He loved Ohio St. He was quietly forced out because of the stupid domestic dispute involving one of his coaches. When that mickey mouse scandal broke out the University did not support him properly. He doesn't want to be remembered for his time in Jacksonville. He wants at least one more natty.

Franklin is overrated. His resume proves that much. He’s a good coach but not a great coach. Penn State will not reach The Promise Land under his leadership unless some philosophical changes are not made.

I think the overrated talk with Josh is about semantics. I feel lines are about bettors behaviors. Bookies are trying to get even money. While the teams matter (obviously), lines are really about betters emotions. As for what people mean when they say overrated, they mean the way media members and the general public RATE people. I do think Penn St (not necessarily, James Franklin), in general, is overrated. Joe Pa made the fan base think they were world beaters by being independent for a long time about just beating up on the slippery rocks and directional schools of the world. When Penn St joined the Big10 and started playing quality competition on a weekly basis, they found their true level. 3 Big 10 titles in 35 years - 2nd tier behind UM and OSU - along the lines of Wisconsin. No shame in that, it just reality and needs to be accepted.

Franklin is the BIG 10 version of Gus Malzahn... hes a good coach but hes not THE coach... if your ok with 8-4 seasons with a couple 9-3 seasons and a 10+ win season thrown in every 5 years or so but no National Championship Trophy then hes your man...

As long as the PSU fan base is happy with being third, maybe with new teams coming in, in the Big10 yearly, they are good. If they want to break into the top two, they need to make some hard decisions.

We aren't but the Athletic Department is. That's why are basketball program generally sucks. They make enough from the Big Ten tv deal and ticket sales that the extra they'd have to spend on making a true title contender doesn't make sense because there isn't that much extra money to be made doing it. They have ALWAYS cheaped out on coaches, facilities, recruiting, etc. JoePa was famously in the bottom half of the conference in salaray and our basketball coaches are usually at or near the bottom. Franklin they gave a big deal, but that was only cause there was the constant threat of him leaving. We only have Manny Diaz right now because Miami is still giving him $8 million a year.

Michigan has had 3 good seasons. Penn State had been swapping places with them ever other year and Michigan isn't going to be as good next year. Trust majority of PSU fans are dumb and do want him gone. The intelligent ones understand that the program will be fine. It will likely always be behind OSU, but not Michigan.

@@corybrockman1865 you are forgetting the new comers. That's fine as long as you are happy being second fiddle. Are you really happy with a yearly loss to OSU and 3-17 against top ten teams?

Penn State has reached it's ceiling with Franklin and now they are delaying the inevitable - Franklin won't make it through the end of his contract, which i believe goes into 2029-2030. They might as well end the contract now because he has proven 1) he can't win the big games, 2) makes poor in gane decisions, and 3) cannot develop talent.
