It was a fun design to model. I remember the RQ had a weird pylon system that I used curved arrays to get the shape based on the Eaglemoss and ExAstris photos.

I like the Curry for the creativity idea of Kitbashing mixing Excelsior and Miranda and Consitution Class Refit necells Class Parts. Especially the idea that it was more often used as an aircraft carrier type of operation. Starfleet never really used Fighters because the targeting and sensors were so much advanced to destroy. This is Starfleets one and turely operated Carrier.

I always thought the Excelsior was a carrier when you look at the back of her neck and that flatbed between her nay sells it looks like a flight deck . Big doors on the back of the neck peregrine fighters adorn the flat deck a force field around it sounds super cool to me.

The Curry Class is another interesting design with an Excelsior primary and secondary hull and Constitution Class nacelles. 👍 I like it. There is a future for this class.

One of my fav Trek kitbash ship since I saw it in DS9 20+ years ago. Yeah, it's an odd design, but I reflected well the war economy etc, and it's kinda looks goofy and fun. Like a cheap Miranda class. I have my eaglemoss curry and yeager side by side :)

I was thinking... if rearranging the Excelsior-class components meant a smaller shield and thus less required power, would that also theoretically work for the warp systems? 🤔

Yes it would, IF it had it's original nacelles, there would be a speed increase! :)

Excellent video as always! Shame this design never got more love, as it really was a cool design; it was one of the first 3d models I found when writing Trek fanfic as a kid, so my first fanfic was set aboard the Curry. In mine (trying to remember 22 years later), the ships were decommissioned from regular Starfleet but used by civilian agencies to deliver relief supplies to worlds affected by the Dominion War.

This was an interesting video, but the Beta Canon version of the Curry-class adds a nice element to why it was used in DS9. The fact it was built as an "out of necessity" design to better handle both the conflict with the Klingon Empire and Dominion makes the vessel seem more like it could have been a versatile craft for more than just fighter carrier roles. The Neo-Curry design actually makes her look like a better ship both aesthetically and in terms of it's streamlined appearance

I've always thought this was an interesting design choice for a starship and it has only grown more appealing to me. It's interesting that this was a fighter carrier during Borg/Dominion timeframe. Speaking of Starfleet fighters, the Peregrine was the only one that I thought existed. Is there any chance that you may one day, possibly maybe, do a Beta Cannon video on the fighters of Starfleet?? I would LOVE 💙 to see what you can pull together from your research and new 3D modeling skills. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Now this is interesting. Sources I've seen stated that the Curry made use of the Excelsior class nacelles. It was a knock off renamed the Raging Queen if memory serves, using the Constitution nacelles that was sold on the civilian market as a super bulk freighter. Still love this ship class. Would love to see you cover the Proxima class battleship.

The Raging Queen was a Variant of the Curry Class created later in the war and was significantly different as IT used Excelsior Class nacelles recovered from "lost" ships during battle! I actually have a 3d Model of the Raging Queen and intend to do a video on it in the future... As to the Proxima Class, only time will tell if there is ever a good enough model created of it!

Actually, it's a pretty brilliant idea! To take an old design, rework it to fit a necessity, cutting back on construction time and resources used during war time when both of those are at a premium!

Based on the starfleet emblems on the class it looks like a late 23 century design early 24th the cargo transport sibling to the Excelsior Class and because of that the core of engineering is decided to not install the fancy new Excelsior Class warp system and use surplus known working warp cores based on the Connie refit and Maranda classes and used newly built large under slung necells to match the drive system when the Excelsior cores became more reliable they were later refit in but the flat necells remained
